Default Run of the Ogopogo 2016 - August 4-7

***This is the one event each year that you do not want to miss!***

It's time to get ready! The annual Run of the Ogopogo is one of the best Toyota meets on the calendar every year, dedicated for Celica, MR2 and Supra owners/enthusiasts. It's a unique event in that it features our very own private autocross event, our very own private mountain top chalet complete with hot tub. Of course, we have plenty of cruise time, photo ops, and the kinds of things you'd usually find at a car meet. Here are the highlights:

    Dates: August 4-7 (Thurs-Sun)

    *Private Autocross Event
*Private Chalet (with hot tub - note this is a new chalet than we have used in previous years)
*Group BBQ event and party at the chalet
*Cruises through the twisty roads of the Okanagan
    *Incredible photo ops
*Lots of time to relax or be in the action
*Get to hang out with an incredible group of people with a shared interest in cars

    Where?

The annual Run of the Ogopogo is held in Vernon, BC, Canada. Vernon is situated midway between Vancouver, Seattle, and Calgary, in BC's Okanagan region, making it easily accessible from Western Canada and the PacNW.

    Accomodations

We will once again return to our own, private chalet on Silverstar mountain. Lots of space, and an absolutely incredible location. The chalet features 2 kitchens, 8 bathrooms, a hot tub, 2 BBQ's, lots of paved parking, 4 living rooms, and sleeps 30+ with more than enough beds and rooms to take care of everyone. Couples are welcome. It is situated at the top of an awesome twisty drive up to the Silver Star ski hill. It is very quiet, with amazing panorama views from the property. Free Wifi is available.

    Autocross

It's pretty rare you'd have your own private autocross event. Exclusive for Ogopogo attendees, autocross is open to individuals of all abilities. Most of us our new to it, so this is a great way to give racing a try in a completely safe and no pressure environment. We do give out some prizes for the fastest cars though, just to keep things interesting.

Your car will need to pass a basic tech inspection to ensure it is safe to race. You will also need a SNELL 2005 or newer helmet, although loaner helmets are available.

All in all it is great fun. Give it a try!

    Pricing & Payment Info

Every year, figuring out the total cost is always tricky until we know how many people are going. So this year, we will use a deposit format as follows:

$100 deposit (non-refundable) per person. This will guarantee you a spot until 30 days before (July 4). At that point, we'll take our number count and divide by the total cost work out the final per person cost.

Room selection will be done on a first pay first choice basis. At the time of your deposit, you will also need to indicate: # of T-shirts and sizes, autocross yes/no, # of hats and sizes (S/M or L/XL), and any food allergies/considerations for the (included) BBQ.

If you pay after July 4: You will pay that total that is calculated on July 4, however, your money will be worked in to a discount for all of the early payers. Basically, you will PAY MORE if you pay late. So book early!

To give you an idea of cost: In the past, it has worked out to approx. $160 for accommodation & BBQ, $20 per T-shirt, $40 for autocross, and $30 for a hat. These can be higher or lower depending on how many people register.

Pay Now to Reserve Your Room/Bed

Payment: Paypal, email money transfer, or cash accepted. chris_dittrick@yahoo.ca

If you want me to email you updates, post in this thread or pm me.

    Looking forward to this year!

One of these years I will have to make the 40-hour drive for this event.
A great excuse to go to BC!

    Costs are in $CAD.

Full itinerary we'll send out closer to the event, however:

Thursday Aug. 4: People cruise out and arrive at the chalet in the afternooon / evening. People responsible for their own food, but we have full kitchen, bbq, etc. Generally a fun evening with everyone.

Friday: Cruise day through some nice Okanagan roads, go for lunch somewhere, maybe do a photoshoot, hit the beach probably.

Saturday: Autocross day, starts first thing at around 8:00 (TBC). We autocross, have lunch brought to us, autocross some more, then finish up. People usually then go a few ways, some cruise some head back to the chalet b/c it's usually hot! Then we have the big group BBQ and party in the evening which is an awesome time.

Sunday, morning we usually clean up and head back home!

Thanks for the info! After some thought- I don't think I'll do it this year.

I've got a todo list for my Celica while its parked for the summer, and I plan on taking my motorcycle to Calgary probably twice in the summer this year.

Gotcha. Well if you want a halfway stop in Vernon for one of your trips out and back, you're welcome to come hang out with us, watch some autocross or come out to the Saturday party!

The official brochure for the event is here!
Take a look - inside you'll find information on the chalet location, itinerary, what to expect for autocross tech inspections, and so much more.

Save this to your mobile device to have it handy for the duration of the meet!
