    Is it normal after 3-4 blocks of on and off boost for a slight extra crispy smell to come thru the vents far a few seconds?

    It just smells like a hot exhaust pipe, not exhaust. Not gas or smoke or anything like that. Reminds me of the almost constant smell when co driving rally on a hot day in the car. That's why it never bothered me.

    It is air cooled. For now. I think the turbo or something is just getting hot fast and burning the air coming in the vents. It's like when you flog your car on a hot day and stop and open the hood. Like the smell of a hot engine. Whatever grime is on it vaporizing. It's only after a long turbo acceleration and only for couple seconds.

    That shouldn't be too bad then. Though in all fairness, I never smell anything like that in my car. The times I HAVE smelled something, it was either coolant or oil and it preceded evil leak hunting expeditions.

    I second this.

    When I had my gen4 swap the only extra crispy smell I had was when it was burning off fluids that sprayed somewhere they shouldn't of been or the damn rodents that tried to next on the exhaust manifold. Even on a 110 degree day pushing 18psi on the highway I never had a 'extra crispy' smell.
