    Default Motor opinions

So, I have a TE72 (80 Corolla) and the current motor is nearing the end of its life. If I had to guess, it has 1 year left, maybe 2 if I dont drive much.

With that said I have been contemplating motor options and want to get everyones opinion and ideas.

Currently I am leaning heavily towards a 3 or 5vzfe mated to a W55 trans, if the manual bellhousing will match up. There are 3 main reasons for wanting to go this route.
    1. The motor should be sitting further back and thus giving a slightly better weight distribution. (Does this seem plausable)
    2. More power and torgue then the 3t stock.
    3. More parts available.

I am also considering sticking with the stock motor since they are cheap to build and that requires nothing to make one fit lol.

So, what is everyone's opinion on what motor I should look into and why? And I wont be considering an S motor. My alltrac has that covered lol.

5vzfe would be a good choice, those motors are pretty bulletproof, plus you could put the trd supercharger on it!

Been done and I prefer to keep motor and body by the same manufacturer lol. Also I am trying to figure out of a v6 would make the car balanced for my general purposes.

Dude. The 3tc is a cool ass motor. It's a hemi for fucks sake. The puerto ricans get mad power out of those little engines.

just because you want to be "different". Why not just take that mentality a couple steps forward and get yourself a Pontiac Aztek?

    1uzfe.

    Or

    2j..

They are both readily available at any salvage yard, and offer a great aftermarket potential.

[Ryan] 2:40 pm: I saw that one but I want to make one my own... lol. And a pic of andy on my leg would make all the girls jealous, good idea

[Murgatroy] 2:41 pm: Yeah, but sitting crosslegged to masturbate would just be kinda creepy.

Maybe the 1uz is readily available.. and you can probably find a handful of 2jzge, but you'll as soon win the lottery as find a usable 2jzgte in a US salvage yard.

Seriously? An iron LS enginee will cost less then most of the swaps that have been mentioned here.

I'm working on an LY6 swap (3/4 ton pickup engine 350hp 380ft lb.) into a 1941 caddy right now. The entire power train, harness, fuse box, custom driveshaft, headers, and mounting kit has us set back around 6k. This is an extremely low mileage engine it has a carfax confirmed 8,000 miles. If you went with a higher mileage engine I bet you could save $2000.

The ecus are 100% cracked. You don't need to worry about evap or any other emmisions as you just tell the ecu that they are not there. It's a CAN bus system so you don't need to run a bunch of wires for gauges. Automated has a kit that rus the gauges of the data bus.

My issues with the 1UZ is that getting a manual behind one isnt cheap and that is not where I want to be investing money on a motor setup. The 2JZ just sits too far up for my liking. Doesnt that throw balance way off with the motor sitting that much further ahead of the front wheels?
