    Default What would you do with $1000.00 to spend on you All-Trac?

    So I've decided that I'm going to put 1000.00 from Income Tax return and bonus into my 185. What would you guys do?

    My Ideas so far;
    1. Fix the dent on my front Right fender - only thing body wise that isn't flawless, most people don't even notice it though. 350.00 to look perfect quoted from a race shop

    2. Get new suspension - Running Koni's in the front and stockers in the back with 2" drop. Handles like a dream, can take corners pretty much flat out, but running over a bug feels like a giant chasm in the earth, little too low for my likes. expecially in the rear, I like the rear just smidge higher than the front. Thinking Megan or KSports.

    3. Wide Band O2 sensor - Played with this idea, but since I'm only ever going to push 16lbs with the CT-20B I think a dyno n tune would be good enough. (right now I KNOW i run pig rich)

    4. New wheels - I have a bent front right rim so anything over 55mph give me some shake.... can't find any I'm crazy about - if the Gram Light T57RC's were a bit cheaper......3k or whatever is too rich for me. (Or of course some 17x7 OZ Chronos in silver/gunmetal would be hot.)

    5. Get bent rim unbent - see above

    6. Find a system 10 amp and get my sound system actually working - right now no audio, which doesn't really bug me that much as I hardly ever listen to anything driving. Prefer to hear the engine and whats going on around me

    7. new rotors - stockers look like stockers aka crap. So some nice rotors. Not willing to drop the 2-3 grand for a Big Break kit, although the new KSport ones look amazing.

    What would you guys think would be the smart investment? Exterior is perfect except for dent - Interior looks absolutely brand new except for stupid narrow band previous owner drilled holes into the dash to mount.........so it looks like I have a 3 inch tach on the dash....sigh. Engine runs flawless at the moment, have an electrical gremlin occasional that drains my battery and have had the car shut of on the highway once - pulling the main and then reseating it fixed that though. Or should I just fix the dent and rim and spend the rest towards a Motorola Xoom when they come out? (Motorola Xoom = Sexy) Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks all.

    Good tune up including all filters, bushings all around like sway bar, control arm, strut mount ect. Youll be amazed how much better it handles with new bushings.

    If it were me Id be getting an imported engine dropped into it since my AT has 180k miles on it, new paint would be spiffy too.

    Would you be able to fix the fender yourself? maybe take it off and pop it out from the other side?

    You should check out the BC Racing coilovers if you're looking at getting a new suspension, after reading a 76+ page thread, Ive decided to get them instead of Megan Racing. Theyre rebuildable and will do custom spring rates.

    Hope I dont sound like too much of a BC shill lol

    You might want to check out ebay for wheels. The last set of rims I bought off there were new 17" ADR battle exes for around 300 to my door, the set I had stolen the year before I had got for about 450 to my door.
    Although if you like your current rim you should see what it costs to get it fixed. It either wont be too much, or it wont be repairable, I havent seen much in between in that area.

    Theres an st185 RC tranny on ebay going for $300 dollars right now, Id love to get it but I just dont have the money for it right now.

    I saw a stock celica amp on ebay last night as well;

    Thats about all the bright ideas I have at the moment

    fix the current known problems with the car. what's the point of some of those things if you still need to fix all the other issues.

    Yeah, 1000 bucks isnt much in terms of "mods"

    You cant even get a good set of wheels and tires for a grand. Id fix all the known nickel and dime stuff and get it ready to start accepting some power mods/suspension/braking mods.

    Then Id save what I didnt spend of my 1000 bones and add more to it and "make it so"

    Have to agree with everyone, fix what you know is wrong. Get it to the point of NEEDING nothing then get what you want.

    Good plan. Those are the sort of things that would really bug you over time about the car. Deal with them now and it's done with.

    Yeah I'd definetly get your wheels straightened out (HA!) first seeing as thats a major car control point, and I'd move on to tires and whatever other suspension/handling problems you have. Guess the dent couldn't hurt if you have some cash left over
