    Default Your first GTfour experiences...

Hi guys.. I just registered here..and my name is Eric..
I love these forums.. so many cool options to play around with.

As well as introducing myself I wanted to ask for peoples first experiences with a GTfour.. Whether it be a test drive before buying your GT4 or driving in a mates..
    lets here your stories..

I know when I test drove mine.. i instantly fell in love with the car. eventhough it was a quickie.. it was a moment i would never forget. the impression the car left on me was that this is definately one tough car.
Once i bought her home I was over the moon.

If you up in Sydney give me a holla and take me for a spin.. otherwise i may just have to wait till the next sydney cruise..

When i was about 13ish i was on holiday at the beach and there was this nice black gt-four at the camp spot next to us... thats the day i first fell in love with Celicas! Im 19 now and i still feel the same way i did when i was 13

It wasnt about until i was 17 that i got into one, it was at a car yard and i took it for a test drive.. the best day of my life hehe

I have owned 2 5th gens one gtr and currently a gt-four, so im still very much in love with them.

oh baby. I was at a Toyota meet at a park a few towns from me. I had only seen an alltrac twice prior to this (this meaning october or so of 2004), so I was excited to find a beautiful black 93 (one of 81 baby!) and a gray 92. I got a ride in the gray 92 through some of the twisty roads of the park, and damn it was fun! we didn't go too fast due to the driver not knowing the area well, but that thing had some kick. It was very lightly modified, but the entire feel of the car was wonderful. The seats hugged me well, and the feeling was holy crap good. I can't wait till the next meet
    I want one!!!

my first gtfour experience wouldve been a few years ago when i heard a fuckin loud BOV, spun my head to see what it was and saw a celica with a hood scoop and thaught wtf is that...since then ive been a big fan of celicas...my first experience with my own gtfour was when i went out to have a look at it and test drive it...the dudes wife had taken the keys to the shops so i couldnt drive it...but i sat in it and was instantly in heaven...my freshly rebuilt 88 sx died on the way home from looking at the gtfour so i said right there and then...fuckit im buying the gtfour....a week later i got the guy to drive the gtfour out to the tafe i go to so i could test drive it and put a deposit down...and it BLEW MY MIND....wasnt mind blowingly fast, but a bit faster than my sx was....but sheeet...it handeled...like a slot car!...ive never driven anything so tight and responsive...everybody always commented on how well my sx handeled..and the gtfour made my sx feel like an old government bus...WOW...i put a deposit on her right there and then...and i get to pick her up next week

i went to a gt-4 club meet, i had a little blue 4th gen sx then, had my gorgeous gf wendy with me, adn the guy who ran the club (had his wife and kids there) took me for a spin in his 185, only had exhaust and a few other goodies, but i thought it was awesome, 3 weeks later i put a deposit on a gt-4 that looked exactly the same at a car yard, had her for goin on 4 years now, spent way too much, on my 3rd engine, 3rd set of disks, hehe, but i love her anyway, and sh'es starting to get stable again, my aim is to get her stable before winter, which may include a new turbo,

oh the fun i've had in that car

heh - my first experience of GT4 came in year 7 - 15 years ago nearly to the day !

I was doing a school project for a time capsule - already car mad , so i chose a few spoerts cars of the day , for a big poster

Cars of choice - ironically was a red St185 toyota brochure - complete with Group A insert about Mr Sainz's additions , and the nissan 300ZX

loved them then - thought one day - id love to own that ..

During the years - interest swayed - and i happened to end up with a ta22 , modified it while on my P's and such .. and finally outgrew it 2 years ago - being no longer practical ..

Instantly the thought of " whats toyota , and cool , that i can afford "

    Choices - Ma70 supra , or st185 Gt4 ..

The Gt4 won out - after a test drive at the back of crown Casino - where i was introducced to AWD traction and boost .. it was instant love !

4 weeks later the car in question was mine - and has since gone extensive changes - as i found out it was actually a lemon ..

THOUGH - most of the bits that have failed have been rebuilt , and upgraded with the best i can afford , and i now nearly have a platform that will even put the some Group A Gt4's to shame !

nad now - the latest modifications done - jsust finished rear mounting the battery with 100% suceess!

my experiences: about 6 years ago, my dad was experiencing a mid-life crisis and was out looking to buy a 6th gen celica - something he had wanted since they first came out. in the course of locating a decent SX, we came across a blue ST205 at a car yard - had a look at it, but he didnt drive it, i had no idea what it was or what it was about but i knew that it looked beautiful, absoultely stunning, and so brutal. he bought his SX elsewhere and a few months later i got my L's and learned to drive mostly in the celica. my passion for toyotas and celicas began there - my first car was a pulsar, but asap i took out a loan for an ST184 and since i have had an SW20, an ST162 and now the 205.

The first time i sat in a GT4 was a grey ST185 at a car yard in parramatta - i was looking for a knob for the drivers side vent control lever for my 184 and 'borrowed' the gt'4s one

The first ride i had as a passenger was in keyroo's 185 at the bathurst 24hr meet. we just went for a trip down the mountain to get to the main straight but he got a chance to show us some boost and then we had fun in the muddy carpark at the bottom

My first drive of a GT4 was the test drive at a gosford dealership of the ST205 i now own - that says it all i think. it was that or a supra, and i had already driven a supra. The GT4 never stops surprising me at how much fun it is to drive.

    thanks for the friendly welcomes..
gotta hear more stories. i luv it. its strange how we all have similar feelings about our cars.. i wonder where it comes from..
i wonder wat would've happend if i bought a honda.. (god forbid)
i wonder if i would have felt the same way i feel about my celica.
probably would've ended being a ricer or a vtec fan or something..
    scary isnt it?

    first GT4 experience...
I had a video made specially for me all about the GT4 including info about the interior, 0-100 captures and everything was great!
Then when i finally got to go in one it was in Keyroo's 185 outside Spencer st station in melbourne. The whole car just purred.. was awesome, never forget it!
The first GT4 hooning experience.. was when a really slow car was annoying keyroo so he overtook it and sat infront of the guy doing 20kms/h until the guy got really annoyed and went to over take.. So keyroo booted it and got to 190kms/h to show that guy who was boss

    Sez xx

got my JSpec GT4 into 2 controled 4Wheel drifts in the adelaide hills on it's second outing. Goes reasonably hard with the misfire. but hoping to fix that shortly after compliance. Not quite as challenging or fun to drive as the Hilux due to all the mod cons (climate control heating/cooling, power stearing, leather seats with electronical wind and lumber support, harness, radio, a throttle that doesn't stick and sound deading in the bonnet...) While the GT4 handles better, accelerates faster and feels noticably safer, the Hilux was a real drivers car, one that needed lots of love to get the very best out of.

There's really nothing quite like the sound and feel of the 3y pushrod, with loose tappets and numours other problems @+6,000RPM.

    Cheers
    Jordan

P.S: For those thiking I was driving an unregistered car.. I had my 3 day permit.

Keyroo took me for a spin in his at the time stock GT4 with just a stage one BOV. I think we drive to the bottle shop at Phillip Island. But to tell the truth, I think it was the sound of the BOV that I fell in love with at the time. lol

Remember this day Roo boy? You can see my old silver SX in the background.
