    Default quad throttle bodies

I had a quick look on google and around Ctech but couldn't see anything. Can you get quad throttle bodies tuned specifically for a 3sge? or is this something you'd have to custom fabricate?

you can get them from jun, TRD (not 100% sure) and from TWM i believe

these will be bolt on for the 3sge, but you'd need to do your own tuning to extract the most out of them

hey Nuke, I had a look at that link quickly. It seems to be specific for the SXE10 3SGE (post Oct1998) for an Altezza. I'm thinking specifically about the 1st Gen 3SGE. I'm not sure these quads will fit (the heads are different between Altezza 3sge and 1st Gen 3sge, no?).

Awesome page tho! If I had cash I'd buy an RS200 and work the tits off it.

how does that work? Do you join the 4age tbs to the 3sge manifold? or do you just make an adapter so the tbs fit?

How much (remember I'm in Australia so the price would have to be pretty sweet cos the freight won't be cheap)?

    thanks Punisher

yeah, I had triple SU carbs on an inline 6 that needed tuning every morning. I got reasonably quick at it. quad throttle bodies should offer a pretty extreme power gain for a naturally aspirated motor, especially when they are tuned at the correct length and angle on a nicely port/polished head.

I reckon it'd be fun, for a while atleast

there are other ITB kits out there... i just don't remeber where

there is 1 australian company that specialises in ITB and has a 3sge kit

there's also supposedly some japanese firm (or was it the link that i linked already) that uses 4age ITB's adapted to a 3sge ...

i don't really remember where i've seen all of this

Thanks Nuke, I'll look a bit harder, being here in Oz they should turn up if they exist.

Further to this line of questioning, is LPG compatible with ITBs? I've never had an LPG car but with fuel prices as they are and Australia having some of the worlds richest natural gases resources I thought it many not be such a bad idea to consider going with a straight LPG (no dual-fuel shite) set up.

I want to stay NA (hence the ITB questions) but wonder if LPG can be fed through ITBs...

I'm going to hit a company around here that specialises in LPG-fueled drag cars (all LS1 chev stuff but it's as good a starting point as any). Just thought I'd see what you thought.

LPG is weak though.. Basically, it won'tbe worth doin the ITBs if yuo go with LPG..

i don't think that's strictly true. I think people confuse effiency with power. It's true that even a good, dedicated LPG set up will only get around 70% (maybe a bit better) efficiency compared to petrol. However, I'm not sure that means you'll notice a decrease in performance if you run LPG through an engine purpose built for it (but I'm still trying to find out so you may be right).

Another compelling factor is cost. At 1/3 the price of petrol, a 30% drop in efficiency is easily outweighed by the 60% I'll be saving at the bowser.

Either way, ITBs would likely go a long way in regaining some of the power I may lose if I do go with LPG so it's a much of a muchness I guess.

No, not efficiency.. in BTU's... NOthing compares to gasoline when it comes to power.. this is why it's so hard to find a suitable alternative energy.. gasoline produces a lot of energy per metered amount than anything else...

Propane will work fine... but it won't get you the same power output that gasoline will.

Tune for the LPG and it should be fine. There are many benefits to doing so. But will the cost out of the box be worth the savings?

Thanks Rio, that had some nice pics in it. I'm not likely to be tuning an Altezza motor tho so I'm more interested in finding out about ITBs for earlier generation 3SGE motors.
