View Full Version : Think i might go with a Mirage?

I think that when i buy a different car that its going to be a 1997-2002 Mitsubishi Mirage es/Ls 4-door. Im looking for a Sporty Sedan that is goo don gas mileage. Im also looking for something that i can fix up over time. Im going to keep my celi by then and it should be almost finished. My plans for the celi are just to repaint it and get the kit finished, Ill either rebuild the engine or swap sumn in too. As for the Mirage, the reason i went that way is. I looked on autotrader.com and Carsoup.com and i have found some at a reasonable price, i think i may go with a black one also. The one im looking at has the option of a 1.5l 93 HP engine or a 1.8 111 HP engine. Im thinking that if i did buy this car that i would get the 1.5l.... Then i would fix the exterior, interior, and rims/wheels/suspension.... Then once all that is done - (a month tops) then i would buy a mid 90's 4g63T from a eclipse GST/GSX. Then that would be swapped in, and it would be most powerful for me, id buy a few upgrades for it, such as Downpipe, FMIC, Engine control and Fuel control, BOV, and maybe a bigger turbo. :D

Anyone have any objections? im looking to throw in 3-4K for the car..... :cool:

Another reason why i am looking into this car, is because parts are almost as cheap and easy to find as the Eclipse or civic. I have already sourced several sites that sell mirage specific parts. And if i were to swap in the 4g63t out of the eclipse the engine would be highly moddable due to the large after market just for that. I left a few websites below for those interested to look.

SECTION ON HPFREAKS (includes tuned Mirage pics!):

Great Site with links:

I am Looking to add a Evo Kit to this Mirage, which is why i am need of a 4-door. I would be getting that same spoiler as pictured.

MITSUBISHI MIRAGE EVO V Style 910 (erebuni)
Wing = Evo V Style:

Accessories i would want include. Z3 Fenders, Evo V Style Hood (Fiberglasss), Racing Seats, Interior Neons, All around tint, and a system..... :)

Im going to for sure find a mirage with a warranty, main reason being is. Im buying from out of state, that car up there is from CT, and im from MN. Im going to take a bus or train to The place, im paying with cash and then driving it back. Then if it were to break on the way home, it atleast has a warranty. Ill prolly try and find a better deal closer to home tho, first.

get it and 4g63 that bitch, theres people who even swap the awd drive train to it, theres a bunch of 10 second daily driver mirages out there most of them are the older smaller ones though.

I wouldnt swap it

The mirage motor can take TONS of boost stock. Theyre mean. Ive lost to one before with a cheap little custom turbo kit.
