The December 2004 GRM has an article about how to autocross with a front-wheel drive car. I stood in a Barnes & Nobles for a good while reading through the issue when I came upon the article.

Recommended for anyone wanted to get more from a FWD car.

nice find, I'll go find a bit of it. I've gotten pretty familiar with my car.. but its always good to know more in how to control it! Off to Boarders I go, hopefully they have it.

Heh heh, my Miata will soon look like the one on the cover. I just picked up some 13x8 wheels with 235/45R13 yokohama slicks for autox. :)

That should be fun. As soon as the celica is boosting reliabily I'll be putting an FMII or an Ubercharger on my miater.

If you autocross it go with the ubercharger. I autocrossed a turbo Miata a few times already and while it's fun it's not for the autox course... This was a small greddy turbo on the 1.6L boosting only 8.5psi and it was already noticeable.

Oh, and I hate you ;)

We all have red Miatas.

Let's race.

John: you'll have to run a restrictor plate.

You are handicapped; you're missing 1/3rd of a digit.

And I can think of a few other ways to handicap you, too.

When building a miata, always call flyin' miata. Affordable and amazing. The shop is right here in colorado too.

Haha, I wouldn't say they're affordable. But the guys sure know what they're doing and if you can afford it, you will definitely get your money's worth in both parts and service.

I bought myself a set of Rota RB's in the 13x8 size.

woah!! i didn't know they made knockoffs of those, oh baby!!

roman

They don't really make them anymore. You can still find them, but Rota doesn't make them unless there's enough interest (group buy). I jumped in on a group buy in January and I finally received my wheels last week. Build date on them was 02/06/2005 :D

nice. Konig Rewinds are the recent knockoff I guess. Check em out, they're not bad looking :)

roman

Yeah, but they don't come in a 13x8 :)

I agree, the Rewinds look sweet. I wouldn't mind them for daily driver wheels, but they only come in a +40mm offset for my size. That leaves no room for the lip.

The RB's.

the original name for those are Panasports, right?

I like those Rotas, mmmmm.

roman
03-21-2005, 11:29 PM
Nah. Panasports are a separate company. The 13x8 Panasports that are similar are the C8-13 wheels. They're 3 piece wheels, they're lighter, and they're A LOT more expensive.

There are also the UL series Panasports, which are the minilite knockoffs and are heavier. They look more like the Rota RB's than the C8's do. However, they don't come in a 13x8 size.
