View Full Version : Don't drink and datalog

Myself in the car setting up the Gtech, the other person is my buddy/owner of the CRX.

So I raced my friend's CRX last night and had a blast considering it's FWD, personally I don't consider myself that skilled with a FWD setup. He beat my time by 0.012 sec on a 49.73 sec run! Anyways I bought a Gtech Pro Competition off ebay about 2 weeks back and got it last Friday. I upgraded the firmware to the RR model (the newest Gtech model on their site), the Competition and the RR are the exact same once loaded with the same firmware...minus the case color, LCD screen color and price (RR is around $300usd brand new, I got the Comp. for $200CAD shipped to my door with no duty or other taxes). I took the Gtech out and decided to do some datalogging with the same car (CRX) with 2 different drivers.

So we always talk about autox and our driving...but have nothing to back it up, I need someone to host a few files for me (Gtech datalog files) so that way you can download them and compare datlogged runs. You can download the Gtech PASS software here: (right click and save as) (http://www.gtechprosupport.com/support/pass/2.0.0/GtechPass20install.exe)

PM me your email addy if you can host the files for me and I will send them. The results are pretty cool. :D Also remember when I raced the car it was my first time ever driving the car...let alone racing it. Haha.

Here is the timesheet: http://members.shaw.ca/rlemke/solosheet.jpg

My times are in the middle of the sheet (notice how many cones I punted :ugh: )and the owner of the car is 2nd from the top.

So I'd like to hear what you guys think about the datalogs and what you noticed different about them. Here is also a link to a video of my 2nd run (the only vid I have): http://s8.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1LU5OH2YRV24J1QIBB54T14UZH

Edit: Here is the course map as well :D

Okay so I got carried away...I did the majority of the work...you can still download the software and "play" the runs together.

The owner of the car has the mentality of taking the shortest possible line and using the lateral limits at that tight radius, you can see on turn 4...he was right. I was still accelerating taking the turn too wide which caused me to fall behind (the same margin) on pretty much the whole run until corner 16 till the end I made up the time I lost on corner 1. Pretty cool hey!?

Side by side results. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v622/mixman1982/ShawnredConradblackmarked.jpg)

Also there was some weird things going on (rpm wise) with my friend driving his car at the 42-45sec range, I can see that he is cranking the wheel hard left and spinning the tires through turn 13, while as I was much lower in the rpm band.

Edit: Yet another... Our summary stats on our fastest runs:

Max RPM's = 7190
Max Foward G's = 0.55
Max Braking G's = 1.11
Max Left G's = 1.18
Max Right G's = 1.15

Max RPM's = 7360
Max Foward G's = 0.51
Max Braking G's = 0.85
Max Left G's = 1.25
Max Right G's = 1.26

Your friend needs to practice his braking, aside from that, looks pretty good :bigthumbu
