Some may remember my previous 3-step post with my black Celica. Well, it's time to clean the new car now. Today was more of a 4-step with the clay bar, but oh well. Click for bigger pictures.

After a wash with Dawn, this is what I had

It turns out sticky-tac can be a cheap alternative for clay, but I can't directly compare the two. It worked well enough.

You can't see the diffference, but you should be able to feel it.

Step 1 - paint cleaner.

Step 1 wasn't really agressive enough to get rid of my swirls.

Step 2. Polish. The contrast wasn't as drastic.

Ooooooh. The shine is getting there, although it may just be the lighting.

Step 3 - wax. I used S100 wax. The contrast is even less dramatic.

OOhhh so nice. I bet you feel happy cuz I know I did when i detailed my car. How did you go about cleaning your engine bay?

I cleaned the engine bay by spraying Simple Green everywhere and rinsing it off. The valve cover was cleaned by hand when it was taken off recently. The front trunk and engine bay also had Armor All Tire Shine sprayed everywhere, which is what gives it its shine.

You should start calling the MR2 deck lid for the engine a "trood." I came up with that for my friends' Fiero and Beetle.

And the front is as.... hunk?

it should be labeled "the tunk"

Now you just have to swap a 3S in there. :D
