Does the cruise still work with the gauges disconnected?

No. It gets the speed signal from the gauge cluster.

*At least on the electronic cc. Not sure if the vaccum ones work that way*

Who has a vac controlled cc that wants to test this? (: I think mine is vac controlled, how to tell? I remember seeing a vac line. I was gonna test this myself but my car isn't drivable yet.

Electronic will have one electrical connector and a cable going to the gas pedal.
No vaccum line.
What year is your Celica?

Ok, If you have a auto, it won't work. If you have a manual, it will.
Both types of cc use the same sensor, depending on transmission.

My GTS was auto.

I've got a manual, autos suck unless u have food in your hands. Could always drive with my knees but still (: What is this sensor your referring to?

Speed sensor.
I hate autos too. When I bought it, that was all I could drive.

wow.. I didn't know the GTS came in auto.. My gf wants a celica bad now.. LOL

Hmm.. I know my 90 GTS has a vacuum line on it... it also has an electrical connector...

Now, obviously the cruise control computer has to know your speed somehow. If you have a cable driven speedometer.. then with that cable disconnected your cruise control won't work.

Speed sensor.

Any chance you could tell me where the speed sensor is? I think I tapped into it but I'm not 100% sure.

Punisher, they both have an electrical connection.

Acid, There's 2. One in the transmission. At the speedometer drive gear. And one in the combination meter [guage cluster]
For a manual it reads off the transmission, as near as I can tell from the wiring diagrams.
I don't have the 2d bgb for 90/91.

Have it for 92/93? (: Which wire is it from the comb meter? White connector, blue/white?

Blue/White is speed sensor.

Durrr.
Vaccum type is on pass side behind headlight.
Motor type is next to battery.

Punisher is right, for manual.
For the auto, it's blue.

Don't worry, my CC doesn't work at all. One day I'll get around to figuring out why it won't work.

My CC works fine (:

mine works fine too - but its speed resticted to 70mph when using cc which is a pain in the ass.

Haha. Yeah that could be a problem if you want to go a little faster than a 70MPH speed limit.
