View Full Version : Hey GTS owners.. How many miles you got?

Theres a 2000 GTS here for about 9800 bux but it has 113k miles on it.

Its cheap and I could probabally afford it no problem and Id love to have another 7th gen and I always wanted a GTS, but what kind of problems have you guys had with your GTSs and how reliable (specially if driven hard cause I aint gonna pussyfoot around in a 6spd with VVTL-i) do you deem them to be overall?

my friends pushing 100k on his 02' GTS, no problems at all so far

I need to go check it out and see if it runs right, take it out for a test drive, check for al the older car stuff, brakes, strange noises, etc.

Its owned by a female.

Thats a plus. Statistically its probabally less likely to be driven hard if its a female. Most the girls i see with celicas when I had mine that drove GTS 6-spds said they just prefer manual to auto and they liked the rims better on the GTS so thats why they got it. When asked if they ever drove it hard they said not really.

I have just over 90k on mine. Its a 00 GT-S. I've only had to replace the syncro's..

Do you drive your car in lift alot?

06-19-2005, 07:50 PM
64k on car
32k on motor.
i guess im exempt. from what i read on newcelica.org, youll prolly need to replace the lift bolts, hopefully they arent broken cause thats costly, check the synchros etc... basic maintenence.

I hit lift quite a bit...It has held up pretty good...but definately check the lift bolts...they suck when they're broken.

How do you check the lift bolts? I thought there was a TSB/Recall on them.

Mine has 93,000 miles now with one major recurring problem... 2nd gear completely non-functional. I had it repaired and it did the same shit again in 3 months.

Kind of at a loss now for what to do. I don't wanna go back to the same guy (past the warranty on the labor anyway) and I don't wanna take it to Toyota for a $2500 ass-raping. So I just drive it broken. Can't really be too hard on it that way at least.

I had it appraised for trade-in last Saturday: $4,700.

I was hoping to get $10,000 for it in the end.

What are Lift Bolts? Hmm. I feel stoopid.

I've got 105k and no problems really.. At 100k, new plugs and serpentine belt. New pads.. (i choose ceramic this time.. thus far, I'm not impressed. This is the first time that I have changed my pads though. :) I was going to upgrade the rotors, but, thankfully that crossed drilled rotors thread is here and a very good read with tons of information. I think that I'v to change the engine mounts? I drive my car /hard/. As of yesterday, there is an intermittent creak on the driver front.. engine mounts?

I care about my car.. and I've tried to take the time to change things that are prone to breaking or causing hell. So, that is what I recommend.

Plugs.. Belt, Pads.
