View Full Version : Battery recomendations

So I need a new battery.. I finally killed my 6+ yr old battery since it won't charge anymore (never holds a charge greater than 6v) ... Any battery recommendations? Perferably from people in Canada since most stores like AutoZone don't exist here or at least where I live anyways..

I need a deep cycle battery, and something that can start my car on cold days. Also some reverse would be great since I run my laptops off an Inverter when the car is off with the stereo. My old battery is 680CCA I think it was.

I was looking online at a Orbital Cycle Extreme-Duty Battery, but is it a deep-cycle battery?

Do I want group 31 or 34? which will fit easy or will they both fit easy?

Not sure, does it give you the dimensions? I know MoralWarfare had an Optima in his car, ask him what he used.

I used the biggest blue top they have, the D31m.......1100cca........this battery is the jewel of car audio comp. Anyways, go with the yellowtop

34 series is top and side post I believe. 31 is only top.
To me, I always like extra options, in case I change something around, so I would go with the 34.

They have different sizes for each, so measure what you have, and go from there.

I got my Optima at Sears. I know they carry them at Batteries Plus as well.

I like the red top that I got. I left it in my car all winter and it still had plenty of juice when I went to start it up in the spring.

I went simpler -- not a big drain on my car (Alpine 200W deck is the biggest, no AC) so when my battery started complaining about being left alone for a week at a time, went to Canadian Tire, picked up a Motormaster Eliminator for $79.99 this morning.

Actually, I knew this was coming so had shopped the prices around.

570 CCA -- not huge, but hardly a big issue around here where we barely reach freezing and it's a daily driver. These last few weeks have been unusual in how little I drive.

well I went to Walmart today and they seemed to only have red top and blue top... No yellow top? ): I will try Interstate tommorow maybe.. I need a battery that can handle the drain hence deep cycle cause it will be used for more than my car.

REd ot is awesome. I hveit in all my cars. ecxpet the truck.

I was considering red or blue it but I need it to be deep cycle cause I use it as backup power besides having it in my car (:

I put a 1000cca batt in teh celica. worked pretty decent

Well if you want deep cycle then you have no choice but to go with the blue top right? I don't think the yellow top is dpcycl, hence the blue being for marine use.
