Hey folks long time no post (life happened)

Anyhow
My 94 camry has a confirmed slight knock at idle

I know some ppl have used a newer 5s out of the 97-01 camry (4th gen) into celicas.

However the 97-01 engine is dizzyless.

I would like to pull a 97-01 engine due to they are easier to find wrecked with low mileage. However before doing so I need to know if the head will accommodate the distributor. My engine is 90% the same as the celica rev 2 5sfe.

If I have to swap cam shafts that is fine. My main concern is can the distributor bolt to the head.

Thanks

Why wouldn't you just swap the short block and keep the Rev 1 head that you know works?

That is exactly what I did for the Vert way back when. It worked perfectly. This is the route I would recommend as well Joe. :)

Well the yard short block cost more than an engine package if I go on Monday. If I don't go on a Monday the short block is only cheaper by 50 bucks compared to a whole motor.

I can pull a whole motor for 115 on Mondays

It's a rev 2 5sfe btw.

I found out all I need to do is swap cams and remove the dizzy block off plate on the 97-01 engine.

I'd rather swap cams then heads

Change o plan, going to daily the truck, and finish the 3rd gen.

I'll just rebuild the 5s unless I get a good deal on a sub-100k motor.

I'd swap the harness, wiring and ecu too. Update everything
