Don't know if this is the right place to post, but here goes.

Does any one have a way of making a Home made flex pipe for our cars?
I have welded my own (3") exhaust together and it is doing its job. But I could not figure out how to make a flex pipe! The system is all one peace. And since I have it installed, the exhaust Manifold studs keep vibrating loose and the exhaust gases keep burning through my exhaust gaskets where it leaks at.
I thought about applying thread lock to the exhaust studs, but do not want the studs to pull the threads out from the vibration of the exhaust system.
Any Idea's on this?

Jack,

While you can buy the flex coupler for the exhaust and weld up your own, I would recommend buying a cheap one and reinforcing the welds.
This will save you a decent amount of cash and give you something that can last years for very little effort.
If you do go this route, just make sure that you have some kind of large heat-sink when you weld near the flange so that it doesn't warp. :)

If you do choose to make your own, here is a LINK (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vpe-65006?seid=srese1&gclid=Cj0KEQiAn9-kBRDloNeUw7Pe_YwBEiQA4HXMU_WjKD8rqILedD57MySjjx7iO 69qtJ_zYXhB4kVATgUaAjcj8P8HAQ)to Summit Racing for an example. The one in the link is a 3" ID.
All the best,

I bought the one on my car off of Ebay from a company in Canada. It has held up great. Been on there almost 8 years and no issues.

Thanks Brothers, just got through ordering the flex pipe and it is stainless and weld on.

This site is all about Family.

Merry Christmas to ALL.

That sounds like the one I got. It was stainless and weld on. I think you'll be really happy with it.

Might be the same!
Maybe we will be able to compare some day at a meet?

What I really like about it, is it is coming from the state I live in, Ohio.

Jack,

Did you make certain that the one you bought has an inner braid liner? That is necessary for forced induction applications.
The one I linked, I linked as an example of what to look for, not as an exact representation since it is for NA applications.
I hope I didn't cause issue.

I talked to a rep. and told him that it was for a 1988 Celica All-Trac 3sgte engine with a turbo. One might think that someone who works for Summit Racing would sale me the right one, I hope?
Thanks Mario for the heads up.

I am over 66 and you make me feel like your my big brother. Love this site....

I have done a lot of business with Summit Racing over the years, A LOT.

But they have always specialized in domestic large displacement V8s. There aren't a lot of oldschool cats that know what a Celica Alltrac is. I get that a lot with Chaos "Is that one of them there all wheel drive models, they are super rare and impossible to find..."

I'm pretty sure that as long as "Turbocharged" was specified, they will get him the right one.
It tells you the application type in the description on the product page, so should be good to go. :)

Even if it was for some reason incorrect upon arrival, Summit would do right and exchange it for the correct one.

Yeah Murg, Summit is legit. As long as they carry it and you know the part or part number, they do a great job even with foreign stuff.

OK this is what I got today in the mail by way of UPS.

VPS-63006 FLEX W/BRAID LINER

The braid is around about a 1/2 " thick. Is this the one I need for the turbo?

Yep. The one you wanted for Turbocharged applications is the one with the liner. You should be good to go. :)
Glad it worked out Jack.

By liner! Do you mean a smooth service on the inside of flex pipe, because on the one I have, it is the same as on the out side as it is on the inside, webbing?!!

According to the part number, I think you are fine Jack. :)
