This has happened a few times this winter. I will activate the cruise control while on high way. Set the speed, well try too and some times it works sometimes it take a few tries. Any way what happens is after a few miles of driving with it activated it will disengage and the cruise light on dash will flash. After this happens I cannot re engage the cruise.

Could it be the switch? Is there codes for the CC system I can check via the diagnosis box?

Thanks

I have this happen in my mine. Look in the BGB. There is a diagnostic section. I forget the exact steps but you have jump a couple of terminals in the diagnostic port and then turn the key a certain number of times. The light will then flash you a code. I forgot the exact steps but it's in the BGB.

Hope this helps.

The cruise problem is irritating. As I remember, the codes are a little vague so it may take some additional troubleshooting even after you get the codes. I've changed a few things out on mine based on the codes but still have problems from time to time.

I haven't even had time to get the codes yet but last night it worked flawlessly. I think we have a very primitive system lol

Celica9303, do you have a vacuum operated cruise system, on an electronic based cruise system? Are we talking a 1993 Celica?

If you go to the 5th Gen BGB, Vol. 2, Body Electrical System, Cruise Control link, then to page BE-87 of the PDF that opens, from this page on, you will see how to get the codes for your "Type B" cruise control system (provided the key has not been turned to off since the last malfuction occured, as the codes are erased when the ignition key is turned off, unlike the ECU).

Let us know what codes you get.

Well I daily drive it. So it's been driven multiple times since the other night. Next time it happens I will get the codes.

Mine does that too. It will work fine several times and then work for a few minutes then the light flashes and then no cruise.

When it does happen again, if you want to fix it, look at post #9 and get the codes before you turn the key off.
