My tank is on its last days. Leaks like crazy and there is no fixing it due to the rust.

Had my shop manager call our suppliers for pricing and availability. No one can get one. Well the dealership can for $800.....no thanks, thats almost the cost of an authentic CS hood and RC bumper.

I could go the junkyard route but being in northern Ohio I doubt I'd find a suitable replacement.

Anyone have a source for a good solid fuel tank?
One of my fellow techs suggested a fuel cell in the trunk, which is an option I suppose as I don't really use the trunk.

i could look at the parts car tank for you, but you wouldnt like the shipping price, the fuel cell would cost around 200 bucks tops,

Seriously, just go check the yards. Find a suitable replacement, send it to a local shop to get cleaned and boiled and inspected for leaks and call it a day.
Fuel cells sound great and all but it's completely unnecessary and more of a pain in the ass than it's worth for a daily driver or non track car.

Just my opinion.

If nothing local presents itself, try searching car-parts.com for auto recyclers in less corrosive climates.

This is a great option as well. :)

Anyone know if the st and gt/gts have the same tank?

Found a couple but I think they are all st tanks.

Also did tanks change between 5th gen and 6th celicas?

Every car but the All-trac shares the same tank. At least, that's what the owner's manual tells me. If you have access to the EPG you can do a part # cross reference to find out for sure.

Talk to Grimmy and see if you can get him to check the Pick n Pulls down there. He's in Houston but I know there are a ton of 5th gens in the one in San Antonio. They would definitely be rust free and from there it would be cheap, like $25. If I was still there I'd go for you myself but it would be a REALLY on long drive for me. Check to see what the shipping would be. It might be worth it.

I Just saw this.

The one I pulled from the vert is in VERY reasonable shape and I know the pump worked when pulled. I don't think there is any rust to the point where any of the breathers or filler tube would be impossible to replace. I'll try to check when I get home.
