I told Mario about picking up 2 amps for my collection but haven't done a brag post.
What I found in a little shop in Bavaria was a stack of old school gear. I only had so much cash to play with so I threw the guy an offer and he took it.
Brand New in the box, blast from 1996, PPI A1200w amplifier (24" long) and the matching PPI A204w

Holy shit man, it was awesome to hear about them when you and I first spoke about them, but WOW! They look to be in great shape. I am excited to see these get used. :)

Mario, they better be in great shape, they have never been used. They are perfect new condition. I will not use them though, I will allow a ppi collector to get them. You know I sm an old school Fosgate guy. :)

That Fosgate is S.E.X.Y!

You know, so many guys seem to go nutty for the PPI stuff, I guess I never got it, personally.

There are a couple amplifiers that I would LOVE to own though. Both by SoundStream and hard as hell to find. :D
Mainly, the Van Gogh (Davinci.. you know the one). That thing is just so damn beautiful. *sigh* Not to mention that it is 7 channels of (then) top of the line goodness.
Then, the Human Reign. That thing looks like the front of the Necronomicon from Evil Dead and I think it is sexy as hell. I wish I had had the cash years back when I had opportunity to purchase a matched PAIR.

Then you have the nasty as all get out numbers that Fosgate has always been known to lay down. In my youth I had lots of Fosgate gear and at times, I sorely miss it. Fun times indeed.

Cappy, neither am I but at least someone loves me! :)
Mario, those SS amps are nice but my heart still is attached to their older gear. I am not sure if I ever posted any pics of my fosgate collection or not. It is pretty big. Processors, amps, speakers, subs, oh my. I have a complete selection of punch amps up until they went to the ix line including a few doubles. Complete line of Power series from that generation including the very rare Power 360 (bipolar not mosfet) and the complete set of 25 to life series limited edition amps. I had a guy that saw part of my collection tell me that it is worth a new car if I sold it all. I doubt it but it isn't cheap. If I did pick up a project car it would have an entire old school Fosgate install.

Edit, god my phone keyboard makes me look illiterate...

No one probably noticed the off color of the Power 1000's caboose, I just dropped the entire amp off at a buddy's body shop to have the caboose repainted. Tomorrow, seksay pics. :)

May have been either from a different paint formula used for the end caps or been done in a different factory all together. I'm sure you know this already, but back then, they didn't have all the nice neat paint coding systems that we have now, so variances were pretty common.

Yeah David, I saw some decent part of your gear some years ago but the most recent pics I remember were of your 25 to Life stuff. All very nice indeed. :D
I still want to play with a 360 proc setup just to see what it's like.

As for some old school gear that I liked lots but never got to own, The old Sony ES stuff was awesomely built and pretty forward thinking. Especially for the time.

Nice finds! And holy collection batman!

Nice find. I've never been a fosgate fan. Always preferred JL Audio and alpine.

I have to agree alot of the Sony mobile ES line was fantastic, I still have my mobile ES headunit downstairs.

ES line were awesome, Sony was pretty hard balling with them, 1 ohm stable SQ amps, 1-2 ohm component sets. No one else did that. The gear ran cool too... What were they thinking when they released the xplode line... Meh.

Some of the fosgate gear is meh as well. I hate that they put out such bling crap that they did but the now have toned the appearance down a bit on most items.
For processing, the EPX was ahead of the game as well as the 3sixty.2 but they jumped the gun with the 3sixty.3 as ot was just not ready for the consumer market with way to many programing issues and because of that I may try a JBL ms-8 in the near future.

Alpine has some pretty amazing processors now. I mean, really nice DSP setups with optical and the whole nine yards. There are a couple others out there whose names I can't recall that have some nicely advanced gear for running full active setups. Perhaps you remember David?
