Hey yall, i have a 1990 celica 2.2l auto, and i have this valve looking thing that threads into the back of the intake manifold. it has one black nipple and i think it connects to the MAF sensor any ideas?? ill post a picture here in a minute

It's a MAP sensor, not a MAF.
MAP is Manifold Absolute Pressure.
MAF is Mass Air Flow.
They're not the same thing.

It's a filter/damper for the MAP sensor.
Keeps the air going to the sensor clean and pressure spikes out.

1. Yeah, that sounds like your MAP sensor

2. Why do you think it's broken? They don't *usually* go out.

3. Upload a picture to c-tech/ other image hosting site. Get the link to the picture. Paste link between these

Usually, but the one in my folks Celica got clogged and the car ran like shit until we replaced it.
