View Full Version : Rev's new st185!

07-11-2013, 12:15 AM
So my awesome GrpA st185 was tragically written off due to the stupidity of some dumb ass who is lucky he is still breathing. I bought the wreck back off the insurance company and stripped it back to a bare shell, thankfully 95% of the mechanical are re-usable.

So using the old parts and a HUGE stack of new parts i am building a new gt4 shell. it will be a complete ground up build made to my exact specifications. doing this i have a new ADM widebody shell. I actually sold this shell to Grant (fibrewizard) a few years back. when he heard about my accident he very generously offered the shell back to me at the same price. i thankfully accepted and it has been dubbed Phillip 2.0 in memory of the grey grpA

By the time i am done this car will be un-recognizable. watch this space!

started playing with the new 4 today, as i suspected the sunroof is an aftermarket jobby and all the wiring/switches have been removed. managed to find 2 wires to the sunroof motor tho. hooked it up to a battery and success, it works

removed the fuel tank, usually an easy job but the amount of crap underneath this car from sitting for like 5 years made everything just that bit harder

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130710_133630_zpsa45f0cc3.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130710_133630_zpsa45f0cc3.jpg.html)

Thankfully the R&T solid rubber diff mount from #148 is still in mint condition!

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130710_133644_zps8bbcb00e.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130710_133644_zps8bbcb00e.jpg.html)

This pic doesnt show it the best but the floor pan in the boot has seen better days, lots of worn paint through to metal and starters of rust coming through, this will require much attention

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130710_133702_zps45f10546.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130710_133702_zps45f10546.jpg.html)

Decided to make my custom front reo tonight. started by lopping the factory mount points of the original reo.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130710_162427_zps93629454.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130710_162427_zps93629454.jpg.html)

Then welded some steel tubing i had lying around. Please ignore the horrible welds, its gasless mig+still getting the settings right+ im a crap self taught welder, will be cleaning these up and re-welding before i paint it

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130710_175656_zpsa975601d.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130710_175656_zpsa975601d.jpg.html)

Bolted the mounts on, cut my tubing to length and welded it up. voila! a new custom reo

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130710_183039_zps2e141931.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130710_183039_zps2e141931.jpg.html)

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130710_183059_zpsf3da704a.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130710_183059_zpsf3da704a.jpg.html)

it weighs less then a factory one and will make the FMIC install much easier. its strong as fnck to. also great considering this was free and a genuine grpA reo is like $500 shipped! Test fitted with my new grpA f/bar and it sits almost perfectly behind the centre part of the grill in the bumper wich is what i was aiming for.

did a lil more stripping, i.e guards are off and some random engine bay stuff but forgot to take pics. I start a new job next week so the rest of this week i hope to smash it out and start really getting this thing stripped back. enjoy!

07-11-2013, 09:57 AM
finished off the reo with some mounting tabs for the FMIC. sits perfect for maximum flow behind the bar and high enough it shouldnt scrape

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130711_140018_zpsaddbbf84.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130711_140018_zpsaddbbf84.jpg.html)

battery will be in the boot and i wont be using the standard overflow bottle so i removed the battery/overflow bottle mounting plate for more room

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130711_170849_zps1d90557f.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130711_170849_zps1d90557f.jpg.html)

I've stripped about all i can from the engine bay until i rip out the dash......SO MUCH CRAP IN THAT ENGINE BAY!

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130711_180803_zps546e235e.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130711_180803_zps546e235e.jpg.html)

wich means i have this shit to deal with tomorrow!

Thanks guys, i have a feeling i have many late nights in the ahead of me

Will the car be done before Turbo is fully grown? That is the question!

haha it better be. i have until early december to have it on the road. very doable but will mean alot of money and long days

07-12-2013, 08:47 AM
i attacked the interior removing all the dash, A/C and heater components. I'm removing the A/C all together so i wanted to get rid of the core anyway

nice and filthy as expected

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130712_154757_zps9aa0a2c0.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130712_154757_zps9aa0a2c0.jpg.html)

core removed

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130712_155214_zpse3787a22.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130712_155214_zpse3787a22.jpg.html)

fan unit has seen better days

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130712_155814_zps26033d8f.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130712_155814_zps26033d8f.jpg.html)

i pulled the heater unit out to clean aswell, unfortunately found a hairline crack in the core so i pulled the one out of my wrecked grey car, sadly that was toast aswell so will have to get one welded up. i pulled all the stuff apart and cleaned them as best i could. the grime in the fan unit was ridiculous!

dash is now completely removed, fun job as always.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130712_170049_zpsc1bb80fc.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130712_170049_zpsc1bb80fc.jpg.html)

removed the entire interior loom wich is a bitch to say the least. coz the grey gt4 had a gen 3 in it (wich i am using for this build) its wiring loom was custmoized rather then a patch loom so i had to remove the stock one for me to fit the one of the grey car

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130712_170830_zps5f66dad3.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130712_170830_zps5f66dad3.jpg.html)

i enlarged the stock air feed hole in preparation for a 3" cold air feed, its a bit rough but i didnt have a hole saw, itl do the job just fine tho

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130712_130617_zps320f3788.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130712_130617_zps320f3788.jpg.html)

engine bay is almost done. just gotta remove the steering rack, shifter cables and the last 2 brake lines. then i can start prepping for paint!

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130712_170851_zps20937e41.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130712_170851_zps20937e41.jpg.html)

hoping to finish the engine bay and strip the rest of the interior tomorrow as my old interior is in much better condition. dont know that i will have a chance do that tho, so may have to wait til next week. enjoy!

I'm removing the A/C all together so i wanted to get rid of the core anyway

Um. Why?

07-13-2013, 01:13 AM
Um. Why?

Coz its heavy, takes up room in the engine bay, robs power from the engine (admittedly a minimal amount) and i never really use it anyway. Thats what a sunroof is for :)

07-14-2013, 04:11 PM
Sunroof works well unless you love where I do. 75* at 6:30 in the morning and about 110* or so by 3 pm. I'll keep my ac haha.

Guess you plan to never sell it :)

07-15-2013, 02:18 AM
Im melbourne Australia. We reach those temps. Just use to it lol

nope will never be selling this. By the time its done to much time and money will have been put into it to ever even consider selling it

07-30-2013, 08:50 AM
well unfortunately i havent touched phillip since my last update, 6 day work weeks and the car being 45 minutes away is making it a lil hard at the moment.
I have been in touch with a sand blaster and in the next couple of weeks the engine bay will be sandblasted ready for some panel work and por15 treatment.

I bought my paint on the weekend. I have bought the brightest possible solid white and clear coat for as deep and glossy finish as possible. So should hopefully smash out some of the body work next weekend ready for paint.

Until then heres some pics of my parts stash

whiteline F&R strut braces and rear cradle poly bushes

Glad to see you will be able to resurrect the car. Subbed to follow progress. :)

08-03-2013, 01:28 AM
My dog had puppies a few months ago and we named one turbo too haha.

09-06-2013, 02:39 AM
^ epic

finally, progress!.

so phillip finally went to the sandblasters on sunday. The sand blaster is on the same road the car is being stored at (my girlfriends parents) so with no steering her dad and myself pushed the car manually steering the wheels with our hands while my girlfriend sat in the car with the handbrake. we pushed it about 600m or so down the road and into the blasting shed. once in the shed we hauled the car up and i removed the last of the suspension and what not

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130901_165816_zps01838817.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130901_165816_zps01838817.jpg.html)

the car was blasted monday morning and we picked it up that night. put all the stuff back in to make it a rolling shell again and took phillip home
so once i got phillip home, stripped and back on stands he looked like this

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130903_193625_zps36925010.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130903_193625_zps36925010.jpg.html)

the next night it was time for a few good coats of POR15 a very strong rustproof and chip resistant coating.

sorry for the blurry pics, the phone struggled with the residual fumes.

with this now done i can start on the rest of the body work and prep for paint...........things are coming together!

been doing what i can lately, getting home at about 6:30 then in the shed til 10-11 each night, been a real ball buster and admittedly im really starting to feel it. working as a mechanic to then come home and work on cars is taking its toll. not to mention in the past few weeks i have also done rust repair and a respray on my corona and done a single mass flywheel and clutch conversion on my girlfriends s15

ok onto actual progress. I have been taking all the suspension components apart to take into work and press the old bushes out. I intended to use the full rear end from Phillip the 1st how ever one hub/driveshaft didnt wanna play ball. no matter what i did the driveshaft wouldnt seperate from spline in the hub. Heating, levering, whacking etc. nothing would work. even snapped the driveshaft when smashing it with a splitting axe. still wouldnt budge. so after fucking the driveshaft and hub i decided to concede defeat and just use the one from phillip 2............. but NOOOO same thing again. this time even cracked the axe head in half!

so organised some spare hubs that Alex had laying around (Sainz 47) took them into work and pressed out the fucked bearings and bushes in prep for paint and poly inserts as the rest of the supension will be treated to.

Ive also really been struggling with lack of tools. Having all my tools at work i am making do with my girlfriends dads tool. the ratchets i believe may actually of been the prototypes for modern ratchets and for most things im having to use imperial equivelants as his socket and spanner selection is a bit lacking. Having said that i am still very grateful the use of his shed and tools, id be stuffed with out his generosity!

Iv been doing some sandblasting of my own on suspension/rear cradle components for painting

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130913_180017_zpsda8de2f9.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130913_180017_zpsda8de2f9.jpg.html)

some of the bits i have painted

Phillip is really looking average these days lol

Today i cleaned and prepped all the underside for POR15 and gave it a few coats

sorry for crap pics, there was still a heavy cloud of fumes lol

next step is some more sandblasting and painting and installing all the suspension back in to make the car rolling again. from there the body work can begin, finally. Bodywork is what im looking forward to. its what i know and do best so i should smash that out and have the car in primer fairly quick.

So thats it for me from now, taking a lil time off from the car this next week in hopes to actually catch up on some rest!

09-15-2013, 06:47 PM
Looks great! This brings back some real bad memories for me. Your car looks to be in much better shape than mine was. Keep up the good work!

09-24-2013, 10:53 PM
Great work so far man! Glad to see someone use POR15 too. I have been recommending it for years. It's great stuff. :)

10-13-2013, 09:36 AM
ok so the last week i have actually been getting things done

painted the rest of the suspension bits, then took them into work and pushed all the new bushes in

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20130921_143539_zps5c14be0f.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20130921_143539_zps5c14be0f.jpg.html)

after alot of hastle trying to get the right seals, i pressed in the new bushes and new bearings to finish recondition the rear hubs/knuckles

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131011_190427_zps85b4f28c.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131011_190427_zps85b4f28c.jpg.html)

finished painting and assembling the rear cradle, all new poly bushes and a solid rubber diff mount from R&T and the grpA LSD

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131012_114651_zps1cedbd69.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131012_114651_zps1cedbd69.jpg.html)

all in and ready to go with the dms coilovers from the late Grey car

Also painted and fitted the rear st205 brakes with new braided lines after fitting all new wheel studs. 205 brakes and DMS coilovers look porn!

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131013_165018_zps34cbbe67.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131013_165018_zps34cbbe67.jpg.html)

Its starting to come together, when i started this i told my girlfriend i want the end result to look cleaner then the day it was new. So far i think im achieving it. I'll be honest though, god damn its a PIA hahaha.

Next step is fit the front suspension (even tho some will need to be removed again) and get it to a rolling shell so i can do the body work and lay down some paint :)

10-13-2013, 02:27 PM
Looking very clean! Keep up the good work! Are you using st205 rear rotors with the st205 rear calipers? We have been having a hard time tyring to find them in the u.s.

Absolutely my friend! I meant it as well, the log of your work on this project is very much inspiring. It is great to see someone take the time and do it properly. I hope to one day be in a position where I can have the space and time to do similarly myself.

Be proud of yourself and keep smiling. :)

Wow! Awesome work. Keep it up!

Also curious about the cf cooling panel.

10-21-2013, 06:27 PM
Damn that rear end looks nice. Phillip has a great ass.

...wait, what?

10-23-2013, 10:37 AM
Thanks guys! appreciate the comments. As for the CF cooling panel i cant tell you much sorry it was just on ebay

so its time for bodywork!

Also anyone who knows me, knows that i cant just do bodywork with out adding a hint of awesome. So this combined with huge wheels can mean only 1 thing. its flairing time! So i stretched the rear guards on the old grey car to accommodate the 9.75" wide wheels but i couldnt get them to stretch enough for more low with out killing the paint. So with new paint being applied i decided to kick it up a notch.

This is the standard widebody rear 1/4

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131014_192504_zps637d611c.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131014_192504_zps637d611c.jpg.html)

This is what was achieved with my trusty guard roller and ALOT of grunt.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131014_202813_zpscb8ff468.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131014_202813_zpscb8ff468.jpg.html)

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131014_202830_zps21eecab4.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131014_202830_zps21eecab4.jpg.html)

This was as far as i could go without cutting. when you roll the guard to this extent, keeping it smooth is almost impossible. on top of that i wanted the transition from 1/4 panel to new "flare" to be more subtle. This means bog!

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131021_215148_zps2af594e3.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131021_215148_zps2af594e3.jpg.html)

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131021_215155_zpse4ab3dce.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131021_215155_zpse4ab3dce.jpg.html)

after the 1st layer. few hi spots i need to sort, due to the filler flap this panel is being a lil trickier to smooth

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131022_204612_zpscc33ebb9.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131022_204612_zpscc33ebb9.jpg.html)

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131022_204627_zpsf3b5a969.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131022_204627_zpsf3b5a969.jpg.html)

On the other side unfortunately my suspicions from years ago when i originally owned this car were confirmed. the drivers side 1/4 panel is filled with bog from a previous repair, have a feeling the door is aswell. Its not to big of a deal just means i will have to spend a lil extra time on prep work.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20131022_212732_zps27bfa391.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20131022_212732_zps27bfa391.jpg.html)

Also i would like to take this moment to say body filler or as i know it bog, gets quite a bad wrap. People say its dodgy, its heavy, it cracks etc. etc. etc. all of those things are only true when people are stupid in how they use it. with the right prep work and propper technique you are left with sweet F'all bog on repairs/ panels.

thats about it for the moment. will hopefully have the 1/4s done before the w/e

Keep up the good work. :)

11-11-2013, 12:11 PM
well hello kids! I've had the last week off and in between pulling the motor and box from a very good mates st165 i have been able to smash out some work on my baby. The aim was to hopefully have the car in primer by the end of the week, very tall order but its good to have small goals to get things accomplished.

some work in progress

doors and hatch all strpped

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/20131105_205212_zps0242e87f.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/20131105_205212_zps0242e87f.jpg.html)

i FINALLLLLLYYYYY got the rear guards done, my god was it a PIA. The stock widebody rear quarters are a really tricky shape to get right, add in me stretching and flaring the crap out of them and they were a total bitch. Even as an ex panel beater i am not ashamed to admit that i struggled but i persisted and got them IMO perfect. best of all i think they look great and it has given me loads more clearance for my monster wheels. Pictured are 17" wheels with 235's and a +38 offset and theres ALOT of room to play with wich will be great.

This is pretty much how it sits now. I finished sanding it tonight and it is now ready for primer. my MUCH better half even helped with some scotchy work :)

Also on a bit more of the "dem feels" note it was my birthday during the week. normally i hate birthdays but this year my fantastic girlfriend gave me the best present i have ever received. She made this for me in memory of my 2 incredible celicas that were taken from me before their time. I'm a damn lucky man

Great work man!

I have to say though, the photo plaque from the gf is the best photo in that set. Very nice bit of nostalgia there.

11-17-2013, 10:16 AM
so got Phillip all rubbed down after many, many hours and masked up. half of the masking was done by Kayla my girlfriend as a surprise from when i got home from work. epic win!

today the odds were against me but i got him all primed up!
Got the all set up to prime and the gun was clogged, cleaned it thoroughly and went to spray and no matter what i did i couldnt get a descent sized fan on the spray pattern and the pressure was dropping continuously. In stuffing around managed to waste like 600ml of primer.............. GHEY. Thankfully a mate brought his compressor round and it held pressure like a boss and began spraying but then the primer started leaking from the tip. Pulled the gun apart and well the spray needle just didnt look right. Apparently my almost new gun is fooked. Put the 1.8mm tip in the other gun and BANG its prime time.

next thing to do is rub back engine bay and door jams. paint them up and get phillip back to a rolling shell. then more paint prep on bonnet, doors, guards etc still so much to do

11-17-2013, 05:29 PM
You gonna put some 10.5 or 11" rims on there? You look like you have the room for it.

11-18-2013, 01:10 AM
Between making you that beautiful plaque and helping you mask the car i would have to say your girlfriend is a keeper! Keep up the good work on the car. Cant wait to see some color on it.

02-08-2014, 05:47 PM
Nice work. Prep work looks great, I'd like to see what the car looks like after paint. What color are you going with? Where did you get the CF cooling panel? want. Awesome work man, looking forward to updates.

P.s. The girlfriend is a keeper...Mine helps me wax and wash mine and helps me wrench once in a while. Makes me wonder how I went without one like her before ;)

03-08-2014, 07:53 PM
Great work and very inspiring! Looking forward to seeing more progress.

06-01-2014, 09:14 AM
long time no update!
so ALOT has happened since the last update. Got engaged, moved house, started a backyard business on w/e's while doing a mechanic apprenticeship etc etc. anyway enough of the boring shit

so the misses and i finally took a lil time off work and i finally laid down some color! The plan from the start was that when it came to painting the car i would paint the engine bay and door jams etc. which has been a daunting thought for a while haha. My previous spraying experience is minimal to say the least. confined to priming and a couple of single staged enamel jobs on single panels. So this was my 1st ever attempt at a 2 stage 2pac base and clear. as always with a home job there are a few imperfections but all in all i am very happy with the result.

These pictures are straight off the gun (no wet sanding or polishing has been done). its much glossier in person (shitty camera phone) here ya go

iv got a few other things done but im slowly painting and prepping everything to go back in the bay so i can get started on putting the interior together. Also the only other thing i have done is ripped out ALL the sound deadening. now i have some motivation after seeing some progress hopefully more updates will follow!

06-04-2014, 04:05 PM
Nice to see an update! What made you go with white?

How is turbo doing?

This is my little turbo(left) and her dad (right)

06-05-2014, 10:42 AM
Haha turbo is doing very well. Massive now. Weighing in at 40kg's haha.

Ive always liked white. Before i fell in love with my old grpA i originally wanted a white st185. White is a clean timeless color. Easy to maintain and doesnt draw to much unwanted attention wich will be hard enough haha. Just going for a clean aggresive look, nothing fancy

06-05-2014, 04:06 PM
White does look great, are you putting your group a bonnet and bumper on there or keeping the alltrac ones?

If I was to strip my car down and reaping I like your doing, I think I would go with the subaru dark grey mettalic. I think it woul got the curves of the alltrac very well.

12-29-2014, 07:37 AM
ok long time no update! after a long while of CBF's im finally back in gt4 mode!

To get me going I did a test fit of my rims on the rear. keep in mind the cars going to be quite a lot lower! but im prity satisfied with how it looks, aka phat as fnck hahaha!

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20141225_185211_zpsrqnezpsw.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20141225_185211_zpsrqnezpsw.jpg.html)

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20141225_185155_zps7yt7myo0.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20141225_185155_zps7yt7myo0.jpg.html)

I decided it was time to do the fronts. I kinda figured it would be a 50/50 chance as to wether using the guard roller on the fronts would work due to the lack of strength in mounting it. Sadly my fears were realised and my passenger guard is now junk. Warped and rippled to sh!t town. So I went old school on the drivers side. I broke out the old hammer and dolly and tapped away. and I must say im happy with the results.

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20141225_185142_zps7plih56d.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20141225_185142_zps7plih56d.jpg.html)

The flaring ended up being almost exactly the same shape and size as the rear. I forgot to take a photo but I dummy mounted it and it was prity bang on with the rear.

To make the car more moveable iv now installed the dash support frame, steering column and all the steering is now connected. also mounted up the clutch slave and all the brake hard lines wich is now all NON ABS. the ABS is prehistoric and crap so im glad to get rid of it

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20141227_212454_zpsjkaigtx1.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20141227_212454_zpsjkaigtx1.jpg.html)

its actually starting to look like an engine bay again lol

Also lastly I found a new dash at the wreckers yesterday. Both of mine are warped and sh!t but the 1 I found is absolutely mint. couldn't pass it up

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20141229_175448_zpsci18ee40.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20141229_175448_zpsci18ee40.jpg.html)

So now I just need to get some more primer and find a new left front widebody guard! aka im screwed haha

12-29-2014, 08:38 AM
Keep the progress going... and faster! Lol, welcome back.

12-29-2014, 01:01 PM
Dang, doing work!

Looks like an epic build!

12-29-2014, 01:52 PM
Car is coming along really well. Keep up the great work!

12-29-2014, 06:17 PM
Nice! Good to see this in progress!!

01-01-2015, 03:36 AM
Thanks guys. Same problem as everyone. Time and money makes it very hard. But im motivated again and hopefully now progress will be a bit more regular

01-26-2015, 01:50 AM
so you want more? This is the best i can offer at the moment. i was going to do more bodywork and priming yesterday but apparently i have broken my compressor, just need a replacement line and itl be all fixed.

That being said i know have a donor car so progress should now be a bit more frequent, anywho. pics!

put the main body and interior looms back in

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20150125_184101_zpsrpbel5je.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20150125_184101_zpsrpbel5je.jpg.html)

Installed the brake booster and master and finished off all the hard lines, ABS delete is now completely finished!
http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20150125_184050_zpslj9vmfpc.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20150125_184050_zpslj9vmfpc.jpg.html)

Also its hard to get the full idea of how it will sit due to the front end being so high but heres a glimpse of the front end fitment. From what i can gather iv widened the widebody guard by about 25-30mm

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd104/rev_head/Phillip%202/20150125_184503_zpstklfsjuy.jpg (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/rev_head/media/Phillip%202/20150125_184503_zpstklfsjuy.jpg.html)

should be smashing out some more body work during the week, provided i can get my compressor sorted, no point doing bodywork if i cant prime it and stop it rusting (as what started happening on the front guard lol

01-27-2015, 01:11 PM
Great resurrection! The chassis itself is a work of art!

02-04-2015, 11:37 AM
thanks man, a work of art is how i see it!

so i need to get this bodywork finished, one thing thats been holding me up was some holes that needed to be welded up. The metal is to thin for my shitty welder, all it does is blow holes. That plus im far from being classed as a good welder so i got my mate round whos been getting into welding lately after he bought a very nice MIG and he plugged some holes for me!

1st was the 3 holes in my groupA bonnet. The stupid 3 at the front for the badge i dont want! obviously thats after they have been filled.

Im trying to do as much weight reduction as possible, atleast as much as i can before it becomes an all out race car. As such the rear wiper was never going to be installed. I also want the car to be as clean looking as possible so the washer jet and wiper arm had to be filled!

I also made a start on the left front guard but i quit half way through as my arm started locking up after a while swinging the plenishing hammer. dunno how the hell i used to do it for a living haha

On a side note im going to take the opportunity to vent. Lately im finding it so damn hard to get motivated to work on this (working on other peoples cars 6 days a week doesnt help) it just feels like it will never ever get done. time and money are big factors but most of all there is just SO much to do. I never actually intended on going as far as i have with this car, all my plans kinda just snowballed and iv created alot of extra work for myself. I can be quite a perfectionist and lately it feels like every time i take a step forward i take 2 back as i find/see something that didnt come out how i wanted it and i redo it. I feel like i should have done things to such a high standard as i now feel like 90% of what i do doesnt live up to what the car deserves. Truth be told i wish i never started this project. I wish i just bought a clean shell, built the motor and chucked everything from the old car in. i would have had a very fast car back on the road by now, hell quite a while ago even. Half the shit im doing no body will ever even know to look at the car. i really hope i do manage to finish this 1 day.
end rant!
