View Full Version : I'm new to cars and i need help !!!

Hi my fellow celica owners i'm having trouble bleeding my clutch because i cant find the nipple where to bleed the clutch is..... or adjust .... i drive a 93 celica Gt i think its a cable but i dont know how to adjust that either i'm very lost and confuse about this car..... this is my daily driver to work, school ect... k to the problem in all gears when i step on the gas it goes but feels like its partly in neutral dont know why but the clutch was replace less then a year ago any info would on this matter would greatly be appreciated

The bleeder valve is on the clutch slave cylinder. They adjusting rod is attached to the clutch pedal.

I've been trying to find this clutch slave cylinder and does the 93 celica have one ? all i see is two cables going to the transmission it self

Those are shifter cables. The slave cylinder is on the side of the transmission under the starter.

I'm just wondering does the car have to be on or can it be off ? To bleed the system I know on breaks it can be off just wondering never done this before that's all

i've been bleeding this and nothings been coming out .... no fluids or anything.....

Car can be off. You'll either need someone to pump the clutch pedal while you work the bleeder valve or you'll need a vacuum hand pump like a Mighty Mite to allow you to do it by yourself. With the pump, you put a line on the bleeder valve, pump the vacuum up on the line and then crack the valve open. You should have fluid and possibly air come out at that point.

still nothing my friend pump it like crazy 20+ smashing on the clutch holds then i break the nipple nothing..... still nothing.....

Is there fluid in the master cylinder? If so then either you have a good bit of air in the line or the master cylinder has an internal leak and needs replacing.

yes there is fluid in the master cylinder how do I determine if the master cylinder is bad ?

If you've got fluid in the master cylinder and you're got getting anything out of the bleeder valve, there is a really good chance its bad.

when you say master cylinder is it the same one where i would refill with break fluid ? for my breaks

Yes, the master cylinder is the one on the firewall, next to the brake booster. I agree with the others here, if you're friend is holding the clutch as you break the nipple open on the slave cylinder, then it is likely the master cylinder isn't building pressure and the seals are bad.

And not to be condescending, just want to make sure we're talking about the same things here...

Does anyone here have a link to a pdf file that i can DL to take off the master cylinder and yes the master cylinder is full of fluid i've been checking the break cylinder thing ......... or any advice where i should start

wow ran into a new problem.... when i was removing the master cylinder the fluid was squirting every where...... (sigh) shouldnt that mean that the master cylinder it self is good ???? i drain as much fluid as possible before i started just what ever that was left was squirting out. But i'll continue take it off as plan tell me what i should do or is there a way to test the cylinder out of the car.

its probley the fluid in the line thats leaking out, also the master cylender could be cloaged, if the fluid has never been changed its like oil it builds up and becomes like a sludge

Alright I got the master cylinder out, and when i push the plunger fluids squirted out. Tomorrow i will be following the line in case there is a kink in it some where. The fluid that i took out of the reservoir was very dark

Hi everyone i'm wondering what are the interchangeable parts well what i'm saying is are the mr2 master cylinder clutch thing the same ??? and will the older celica fit the the 93 ? or the 94 will it fit the 93

While by no means infallible, the ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/88-93-TOYOTA-CELICA-JDM-AISIN-CMT-008-JAPAN-CLUTCH-MASTER-CYLINDER-31410-20470-/260976331458) and amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Aisin-CMT009-Clutch-Master-Cylinder/dp/B006YC99VE) interchange guides are good references.

So it appears that it fits all 5th gens and late model 4th gens only.

okay i just got back from pick and pull and got the master cylinder for the clutch is there a safe way to clean out the sludge in the cylinder and the lines ?

i have a new problem with the install master cylinder for the clutch when i put in the fluid to bleed the system my clutch pedal just goes straight down to the floor and stays down.... any help would be greatly greatly appreciated

The clutch was replace less them a year ago

It will go to floor until it is bled. What you are doing now is compressing the air in the line, which offers surprisingly little resistance. Continue trying to bleed it and see if that does the job. Should start to stiffen up quite a bit.

Assuming that the cylinder is good. Did you try to bleed the cylinder before install?

no I didn't but the fluid level isn't going down either its just staying the same in the reservoir

same thing is happening as before been pumping the clutch for a while now i'm not seeing bubbles or fluid come out on the bleeder valve..... any other suggestion...

I believe you bleed the clutch at the front of the engine bay opposite the radiator. If you get someone to depress the clutch you can see it moving at the front. There should be a nipple there.
