I have a 90 GT which came with absolutely no speakers at all and it's time to get some audio in my celi! I was wondering what size speakers fit in the rear (next to the rear seats) and in the front if i was to cut into the door panel. Any assistance or information is very much appreciated. Thanks all!

The housings for the rear are 6.5", and the fronts are 4". I don't know if you cut into the door panel and try to go System 10 style. But I don't quite remember the measurements for the system ten woofers in the door panels.

If you cut the door panel you could even fit an 8" free air sub in there. But 6.5" should be fine.

4" up front; 6 1/2" in the rear as stated. One thing to note - The stock speaker enclosures have 4 holes to mount each speaker. I bought speakers for the rear which had 6 holes around the speaker to mount it, and getting it to line up and screw in was a pain. Also, I had to dremel off a part of the rear speaker enclosure. If you look at the frame around the stock speaker, it's not exactly round. There is a small lip around the stock speaker, which would not allow me to fit the round Eclipse speaker into the enclosure, but that was fixed easily in 5 mins with a dremel.

THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS!!!...for some reason i thought i could fit 6x9 in the rear lol and put 6.5 in the front. Good thing I only bought a pair of knewood 6.5 which will now go into the back. I'm going for an all kenwood system with tweeters, HU, 6.5's and 4's and a kenwood 350 watt amp. I got everything except the 4's for the front. So i cant wait....oh and i also got my euro sytle 7 in antenna...I'll make sure to post pics =) THANKS AGAIN ALL!

Since you're done with your thread, I'm gonna jack it. I got some sys10 door panels on the way and was wondering what sizes and types of speakers you have seen used in them. :jacked:

This thread would have done better in Audio forum. The mod there (david in germany) has an OEM replacement sourced for insanely cheap. Also, the best sounding aftermarket replacement I have heard so far is the Kicker RMB8. Some cutting is require, but it is worth it. Moving to the Audio forum. David, take it away good sir.

You call?

Yes replacement woofers.... hope you can afford $12.95 plus shipping (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=290-310)
Although I havent tried the speakers in the doors (sorry I don't have the doors to try them in) I have tested the woofers in an enclosure about the same size as the door enclosure (even powered them with the system 10 amp) and they do sound good or for the price they sound Great! :bigthumbu

As I recall, we had this discussion and produced a long list of 8" subwoofers -- though knowing the OEM height is 3 11/16" inches does narrow it down a bit.

I was thinking about making a ring and putting in some 6.5. I'm not a big bass fan and the those rear stock ones are great for me for bass.
-David- have heard or tested any "oem" replacements for the rears? I keep getting them from the junkyard when I need them.

I was going to explain the best set up for the 8" holes in the system 10 if you were planning on dumping the 8 inchers; but I derailed myself and this thread, so I made a new one. It basically explains what set up would provide the best SQL results in a 5th gen car. The write up excludes custom mounting angles, but you can get an idea.
