And what is this thing growing off the back?

Omg, is that a 3sge/gte throttle body? Custom dual plenum setup?

There's a new approach!

Why yes, yes it is. I have been working on this idea for the last couple of months now. I wanted to find a cheaper solution then going all custom but still get a good increase in performance. Thanks Luni for the 3sgte TB and the idea of using JB Weld in the TB passages. The TB has been slightly modified to mate to the 5sfe flange and allow idle air in.

I'll be posting more pics in my build thread soon.

Hideous yet functional! Brilliant! lol
No that is seriously sweet, you should go all the way and find a cheap/free 205 throttle body and put that on there.
Always appreciate the poorman mod style.
This is most likely where "tuning" all began, grass roots here. lol

Thats a sweet project!!!

What exactly am I looking at here though? Is that a 5S Inake with just a 3S plenum welded into the runner area?

You have my attention, now inform!

Thanks for the comments guys. You can find more details in my build thread: http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthread.php?47963-My-Street-Performance-NA-5sfe-Build

What size is that TB? If someone can find a Toyota TB that is 55mm and more common that would be awesome. I have found that most Toyota IAC valves are similar or the same and throttle position sensors can be pretty easily modified to fit.

It's a stock 5sfe manifold with an expanded plenum, made from a 2.5" pipe, welded onto the back. This makes the plenum bigger and the runners 2" shorter. And the manifold is ported to 55mm and the 3sgte TB is slightly modified and bolted on.

I think its 60mm. I had to port my 2nd gen 3s manifold to fit it. IAC and TPS are plug and play from my experience.

Jeff, 205 is the same TB as you have on your green car.

I dont see anyone giving a 205 TB away for free.

This is what tuning is. It's development.

Hats off to MrTurrari.

MrTurrarri, what kind of data could you return from this experiment?
