I just blew the 5s on my fifth gen gt4 Build. I want to do a 3s drop but im low on funds at the moment . How ever a buddy of mine is willing to donate his old MR2 5s . Now my question is will the second gen 5s fit the fifth gen . As in a direct drop hypothetically it should right since its part of the Toyota s family . is it just the alternator bracket that needs to be switched and fuel rail or dose it get harder ?

Yes, it'll drop in. You'll have to move a few things over. Does the old/new motor have a knock sensor?

just as long as i do not have to modify anything having to do with the mounts like you have to with the camerys 5s . its just a pain in the ass to find a good fith gen 5s

I swapped a 93 Camry 5s into my 1990 Celica GT-S and the biggest thing I had to change was the upper timing belt cover. I did swap over the intake and exhaust manifolds to use the ones from the Celica and I may have swapped a couple of sensors so the plugs would match the wiring harness. I'm sure the MR2 engine won't be any more difficult than that.

Any 5S should work fine. Use it as a long block and just swap all your original stuff over. ie Intake, exhaust, brackets, mounts etc. Just swap it all over. Shouldn't take you more than 2 hours to do it all.
