View Full Version : Supercharger

When "shopping" the local pick and pull junk yard I noticed an older model celica (1980's) with a Toyota stamped supercharger. Would it be worth it to pull it and see if it will work with my 90 GT-S (mine is an automatic, not a manual, and I don't know if THAT makes a difference).

Thanks. I might pull it and try to sell it on Ebay.

Might want to check the ebay value before you go through the trouble. Which motor is it?

The only actual factory supercharger I can think of this morning would the one on the 4AGZE engines that came in the Toyota Van and I think the Mk I MR2. It's early though so I could be missing something.

The Gen 1 mr2's were available with the 4A-GZE, but I highly doubt they're very desirable without the rest of engine...

3rd Gens never came with Toyota superchargers. My guess it is a 4A-GZE from a 1g MR2 swapped into a 4th gen. That's the only supercharged engine I know from Toyota that isn't one of the newer ones. There's also the Previa engine, but those sit damn near flat.

I guess it's entirely possibly to pull the MR2 or Previa supercharger and throw it on a 4th gen, but I've never heard it done before.

I'm going back to the pull yard tomorrow and take pictures of it, if it is still there. I'll note the engine as well. The car looked like it might have been used for local racing. But it definitely a Celica, but not sure when gen.

grab the super charger if you can get it cheap. you can always put it up on eBay as people always need parts.

Yeah, get pics. There is always a small contigent of us here that are very interested in supercharging, always interested to see some one's completed setup, even if it's just on a junked car.
