View Full Version : Violent engine shaking

So I am encontering a very bad issue here that I tried to solve on my own and have come to no success. When taking off in first gear the engine jumps like it wants to jump out the bay like real bad. Funny thing is, I can take off in second gear and no shake at all. I can even drop it to first gear after the car is rolling a little and no hop. These are the thing I looked at and seem fine: Spark plugs are good, wires good, timing is on, no loose wiring, mounts fairly new and good, no cat so no restriction on exhaust..... Can it possibly be a fuel injector? Im clueless and taking off in second gear sure probably isnt best thing to do all the time. Where do I go from here?

How are your engine mounts?

What year Celica are we talking about? What engine do you have? What kind of transmission?

By transmission, I was looking to know if you had a manual or automatic.

If automatic, what level is the fluid at?

The higher gear puts more stress on the clutch, and yet the higher gears seem to not cause a problem. Just wondering if the gear itself (1st gear) has some broken teeth. If so, your drive pinion gear will be gone pretty soon, which will put an end to the tranny. I want to say clutch, but a clutch doesn't fit your symptoms very well.
