Anyone know if the 3vz-fe and 5vz-fe share the same bellhousing?

I ask cause the 3vz sits on its side in a fwd vehicle while the 5vz stands straight up. Curious if I got a 3vz-fe for cheap if I could mount it upright in a rwd configuration.

They should have the same bellhousing. The 3VZFE has a strange flywheel cover in it's transverse configuration, but the two engines are swappable in a RWD configuration.

Think I have seen a swap similiar to that. I guess my biggest concern is the 3vz-e versus the 3vz-fe since the motor is cocked sideways. It seems like it should mate up to a R150 trans fine, just trying my research first.

The reason I am looking at a 3vz-fe over a 5vz-fe now is I can find the 3's for about 200, versus 900 for the 5's, and everything I have read says the 3's have a more useful power band.

I love the powerband on them. Where are you sourcing them? Are you doing a full rebuild?

I'm in the market for a 3VZFE myself.

The one I found locally was on ksl. Guy bought a car for the trans and has a motor to sell. car-part shows them in the 500 range, but also alot of places with no price.

If I can find one, when I am willing to take the plunge, I hope to get one that doesnt need a rebuild yet, but if I get one cheap enough a rebuilt may not be out of the question. What year is your camry?

If it's low mileage, that isn't too shabby of a deal. Most of the 3VZFEs I see in the yard are high mileage and would need rebuilds.

I've not seen it to be an issue bolting to an S-series or VZ series transmission in all the swaps I've read up on. 3.0L to 3.4L is a popular truck swap.

Yup it should work. And the 3.4 swap is awesome in a 4runner(88-89) the old 3vse(3.0l) sucks ass

Yea, the 3vz-e is complete garbage apparently, but the 3vz-fe apparently is a great motor. And judging by price differences, the 3vz-fe may be the better option over the 5vz-fe.

What's it going in?

Yes the 3Vse is Garbage, my 4runner only gets maybe 9 mpg on a good day

My 80 corolla :) I think a v6 would be a blast in that car and help with weight distribution.
