View Full Version : Darn stereo upgrade cost a fortune

Jennifer's G35 needs a new radio. The 03-05 models are plagued with Bose radio finisher boards having problems. The radio and A/C controller are integrated into the same circuit board. So when the radio starts to go out it causes the A/C to stop working also.

The only real cure is to upgrade to new stereo. In order to do that I have to buy the JDM A/C controller and JDM double din console piece used in the Skyline. Needless to say this project just cost me a small fortune.

JDM A/C controller and dash console = $350 new

Metra ASWC Universal Car Steering Wheel Control Interface = $50

Metra stereo/speaker wire harness = $5

Antenna adapter = $5

Kenwood USB iPod interface adapter $10

Kenwood DDX419 = $300

$720 Just to put a new stereo in a car. Should all be here next week. Gotta keep her happy.

I knew I was forgetting something to do for my double din DVD player... I even remembered to do a parking brake bypass on it.

That's nothing, when the heater controls go on a late 90's/early 2000's Pathfinder w/navigation you have to replace the entire nav unit. Thing is, it was considered an accessory and is no longer available. Has to be sent in and repaired, and last one we got quoted was almost $5k.

Stupid Nissan indeed. You guys wouldn't believe some of the shit they do.

Stuff like this is why all car that are new now are going to suck when they get older.
