I think the thing that scares me off about this engine is if you dont get a full engine with harness and ecu, it seems very difficult to get the proper ecu to run it.

Why are your projects always so awesome?

Like Smog...

Meh, I know plenty of shops that will go under the table for smog. How do you think I go by with the Headers, cat delete, one resonator, and the Magnaflow. lol

anyone is welcome to come up and see it and drive it.

as for finding an ECU thats really not an issue at all. Camry's and Solara's came with a 5 speed so you just need to get one of those. all the part numbers are posted on MR2oc.com. the really awesome thing is the Solara AT ECU can have 1 pin grounded and that puts it in MT mode and wont throw any CELs for no auto tranny.

Ill try to get a video up really soon. i do have a video on my youtube page, look under Eodninja6. i have most of the bugs fixed now so its going to be smogged really soon.

here is more details on the swap

Hmmm... May do this instead of a 3s on the 6th gen.

How much did you drop on this project? Ball park?

Smaay
10-25-2012, 05:03 PM
it can easily be done for less than 1500 if you are resourceful. i have about 2800 into it because i got an E153, axles, tore the engine apart and rebuilt it with new rings, bearing, and gaskets. I had MR220v do the wiring. i could have done it myself but i chose not to. the nice thing is the 1MZ will bolt up to the stock 5 speed. all you need to fab up is a axle bearing carrier, and a passenger engine mount, and custom Y pipe and exhaust. im looking into building a kit that includes all of these parts. I haven't put a price on it yet but it will be in the 700-800 range.

Shit that's not bad at all. I will be painting too so, plenty to be done before I get started on that.

Why is that supercharger only $120 and where can I buy 5?

Smaay
10-26-2012, 10:55 PM
never seen that before, something isnt right, no way its 120

Galcobar

The price makes perfect sense. Read the English on the sign: Carbon cooling panel. It's $120 for the shroud around the filter.

Gay. Still pretty cheap tho.

hey lets get back on topic, my awesome car! so i drove it to by buddies shop that built the engine mounts and my exhaust. he said it really freaking loud so now i need to get an actual muffler.

Thats a crazy torque dip between 3500-4000 rpm

I'll let Smaay confirm, but I've seen him advertise the passenger side mount for a $200ish. I have no idea about the "swap kit" he's talking about.

I'd be interested in the mount and axle carrier bracket if he makes them.

Smaay
01-05-2013, 06:30 AM
i do the custom Y pipe for a celica because the Camry one will not fit. and the passenger engine mount. as for the that dip in torque, no i cant feel it at all. what that dip is the ACIS system changing the intake manifold from long runners to short runners. its much like the TVIS on the 3S-GTE intake manifold. this is a throttle body inside the manifold.

Yeah, I'm on the fence about putting a 6 cylinder into a 5th gen, don't know why, but for some reason it just seems so much more natural in a 6th gen like you have done.

Amazing build, I bet it is a blast to drive!!!

use the Sienna axle carrier if you are using the E153. perfect fit. if you are going to use your S54 trans then something needs to be fabbed up.

I'll likely stick with my S54 out of convenience/budget, I don't like my chances of finding an E153 around here.

car-part.com man. they are everywhere, just gotta look for them.

I checked on there, the only one within the province is from a 99 Camry with no price, or one in Alberta for $800 with 95,000 miles. Either way, I won't be doing this for at least a year. I'm slightly torn between this and a 5SGE but this would be cheaper and easier since I'd have to rebuild my 5S anyways.
