Needed a 4 dr for the kids. I wanted a Toyota [duh] and something a lil old school.

So I picked up this.

86 Cressida [MX73]
Low miles, no rust, good condition. It needs some work, but it's pretty much easy stuff. It has TEMS [still works great].
And the best part is it's RWD, inline 6 [5MGE] w/IRS and rear disc brakes. :) All on an old school Toyota.

That's freegin' cool!

Now you have to acquire another barn and fill it full of Cressida parts!

1jz/2jz swap? Gotta teach the kids how to drift at a young age.

Now find a totalled sc, is, or gs, and swap in a 2j. Or a 1u would be pretty nasty too! Score!

I want to do a 5 speed swap, and IF IF IF I ever get the chance, I'd rather do a 1UZ than a JZ swap.
I can't play with this like I can the Alltrac though, so I'm mainly limited to upkeep and obsessive detailing.

Are you kidding? My wife would kill me, then draw and quarter me. And then kill me again. lol

But the thought did cross my mind....

That needs some nice, subtle, chrome wheels. Something classy.

I approve barns. Nice little find. How much it set you back?

Time to get some nice wheels on it and drop it on bags! It'll be your lownslow mobile :)

Thanks everyone. :)
I'm pretty happy with it. It's actually pretty fun to drive too, it handles decent [feels so different from the Alltrac] and it feels so light. :P
The RWD is nice too, I just really wish it were a stick.

It takes good pics. It's in good condition but nowhere near mint. I got it for a family DD so I wasn't as worried about it being a 10. Though it is cleaning up nice, a previous owner covered it in wax, and EVERY crevice is loaded with it. And there's a lot of them.
Once the white is out of the crevices the trim looks much better. And the paint is cleaning up nice too [I'm using Klasse].

It definitely does.
But not yet, I've got lots of other stuff to think about first, and I just bought new tires for the stock wheels.
I'd like wider ones if I buy a set.

2 Grand. I could have got it for less but my wife and a buddy came along [the car was 2 hours away so I needed a ride up so I could drive it home] and were giving me shit for taking so long looking at it.
It has almost no rust and the engine is fine so I'm still happy with it. Plus today I found out NADA is still $1700.00!

Great find. Let me know if you need parts. There are quite a few in good shape in the pic n pulls here. There was even a wagon there when I went last time.

Had a silver one parked in my back yard for a while (my friends). He swapped in a 7MGE and it went like stink. He was thinking of taking the 7M-GTE out of my Suppy and seeing what it did :)
Nice cars, drove like a dream with the 7M in it.

Yeah, this thing drives really nice.
I can't compare it to other RWD "sport" sedans [never really driven them] but it's much more fun than FWD ones.

I would like a little more power, but there's not a lot I can do with the 5M, short of a turbo, and I really can't swap in another engine.

Dude it's a cressida. If it were me I'd bag it on 15" chrome Daytons. Or hammers and vouges.
