I just sold my 2000 GT and am looking for my new daily. I've looked at a couple more 7th gens that I really love but might not be able to afford. So of it comes down to it this may be my next purchase. I dot know too much about the older models so I was wondering what I need to know?

Check out this project restore thread of a 1974.

Should give you an idea about the 70's Celica

Depends on it's condition. Is it a black or yellow one? I know 2 people that have celica's in that area, curious if they are selling.

What are you hoping to use the car for? DD? Project?

I have lots of experience with 1st gens and imho they generally make for a poor DD. I say this because to find one these days they either needs TONS of restoration work or they are so minty fresh that they would be a shame to daily them. Also realize they have VERY old tech, non vented very small disks up front, drum rears, SOHC (meager performance stock) just point out a couple things. They usually need the window tracks restored and never had power windows, no tilt wheel either.

Im not saying any of that is a bad thing for a classic to drive around, but I personally expect a little more from my daily. Now as a weekend warrior or occasional toy, something to enjoy and pamper and take to import shows, sure, they get alot of attention and imho there is something timeless about their styling though I might be a little biased.

It's orange

I think I'm gonna go with the 91 gts for $1800 then. Thanks for the info

a 91 GTS for 1800 sounds like a pretty good choice for a daily.
