Thats a funny lookin intake manifold. Donno what gen that is.
Some research shows its from a Corona, so Id say that is a gen3.
3S-GE 94-98 86.0 mm 86.0 mm 10.3:1 1,998 cc 132 kW (179 PS; 177 bhp) at 7,000 rpm 192 Nm (142 lbft) at 4,800 rpm Celica GT, SS-II (ST202), MR2 (SW20)

Will it bolt up into 5sfe engine mount..n do i need to cut any wire..(have complete harness)

It will bolt up. May need a different clutch. You will want the whole engine harness and ECU for that engine. Rip out all of the old 5S engine harness and ECU and replace with the 3S.

can a 3sgte head gasket fit in a 3sge?

CollapsedNut

Probably wouldnt wanna use a 3sgte, I think the gasket is thicker for lower compression. Could be wrong tho.

Its the same damn head... It wont affect anything...

I dont see why yall are busting a nut over this motor? If I was going with a GE swap, get the grey top BEAMS or the red top Beams... The gen 3 really isnt anything special...

Whos busting a nut over a gen3?

Yes same head, but I'm pretty sure I saw that the turbo gasket is thicker.

Not quite the same head, gen 2 us and gen 3 are quite different.

Also, for half the cost of the beams motor you can sacrifice the 10 hp.

And why would anyone bust a nut on the beams motor?

More than 10hp difference there Joey. Gen3 doesnt have 190hp. Its more of a 40hp difference stock for stock as far as I knew.

My first post has the specs... 177bhp

It's a 20 hp difference- 177 to 197 (Redtop), then dropped to 168 after 1996 according to Wikipedia. Torque was 140 ft lbs with the gen 3 and 154 with the Redtop. It's a slight difference and worth the extra cost to some but not to others. Either way it's a great upgrade over the 5S :)

Lithia Toyota. They are a vendor here on the board. Post a thread in their forum here with what you need and Aaron will hook you up.

Ok..ran into a problem..if i use the 5s tranny am i suppose to use the same starter or the 3s starter?

CollapsedNut

Use the starter that matches the transmission is my guess. Im assuming the 3s mounts under the exhaust manifold while the 5s mounts over the tranny? It wont hurt a thing to use the starter for the 5s tranny, it's still gonna hit the flywheel gear.

From what i been reading about is 5s and 3sge use the same flywheel and same clutch kit..so just use the starter from the 5s right?

Glad I'm not the only one who sees it this way. Thanks Dan!

The 3SGE uses the same flywheel as a 2nd & 3rd Gen 3SGTE, and the same pressure plate/clutch as the 5S. (if you're planning on shopping for a new flywheel that is)
The headgasket is also the same for a 3rg Gen 3SGE and 3rd Gen 3SGTE. - I ordered my entire Cometic Gasket Kit from "realstreetperformance.com" (*great group of guys) Otherwise - Lithia Toyota would be your best bet. They tend to carry most of the stuff needed for a 3SGE rev III in stock... except for the piston rings, which I found out the hard way :P

What are some interchangeable part for this engine?
