Hello everyone I am new here and have not had much luck with the search button. I am looking to update my daily driver a 5th gen gts. I was thinking of 3rd or 4th gen 3sge but I put a lot of miles on in a year. And I worry about parts down the road as things wear and need upkeep. So I started reading about the v6 swaps. Id like a little more power than my 5sfe and something from this century. Has anyone tryed the new 3.5 liter 2 gr into a celica? I was thinking of getting a whole wrecked car and having all the new wiring and everything that way. I'm ok with some fabrication but don't want to build a car from scratch. What I am after also is depenability. Thank you.

A 3vz or a 94-96 1mz will be the easiest to drop in
An 5speed will be much easier too.
As im not sure if theres a real good way to leave it auto

The reason i say one of those 2 over the 2gr is.....
1. Both still run off a throttle cable,2gr is drive by wire
.2 both have return style fuel systems till 97. 2gr has returnless fuel system
3. Both have more power then the 5s
4. 1mz actaully weighs less than a 5s if you dont put the a/c stuff back on it.

I just put a 1mz in my 6th gen an love it
Im sure thes some way to use the auto trans
If you used the stock auto you may just have to get the flex plate machined to fit on the v6
Then you would only need one custom mount
