Anybody have any takes on removing scratches from glass?

Basically scratches from the wipers on a dry windshield and scratches from the windows rolling up and down.

Replace them?

My experience scratches -------> cracks ------>getting pulled over for equipment citations.

Those must be some pretty deep scratches if it lead to that then.... the ones Im talking about are small ones like all the little scratches from using the windows going up and down...

We tried a glass polish with I think #00 steel wool and it didn't work... gonna probably try again.

I've tried just about everything with not much luck. If you figure it out let me know.

Eastwood has a pretty good kit. It takes some elbow grease with the cordless drill, but it works. I used it on some windows here in the house to get rid of hard water spots.

DIY how-to posted on Meguiar's Online -- the photo links don't work any more but the description is reasonably clear: http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?32428-Scratched-Glass-Solution-Cerium-Oxide
