6spd = gts, 5sp=gt. If it's auto... first, I am SO sorry.. second.. can't tell from that. Assuming there's no badge, you could check the VIN, or look at the engine bay and see which engine is in it.

GTS has rear disc brakes, GT does not. GTS has silver/gray aluminum intake manifold, GT has black plastic intake manifold. Easy ones to spot.

I know it might seem obvious, but just in case:
GT: 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine, 140 HP/125 ft-lb, VVT-i
GTS: 1.8L 2ZZ-GE engine, 180 HP/133 ft-lb, VVTL-i

Both GT and GTS came with 15-inch wheels, but the GTS had a cheap 16-inch option that was so common it's become expected, with 15-inch GTS wheels a rarity.

You could also check the VIN sticker on the door frame -- it'll have a section on the bottom labelled "Model" which gives you the chassis code. ZZT230 is the tells you it has a 1ZZ engine, ZZT231 indicates a 2ZZ engine.

GTS tach goes to 9000 and speedo goes to 160. GT goes to 8000 and speedo goes to 140 or 145. GTS reverse is over to the left and up, next to first. Reverse beeps. GT normal 5 speed configuration. GTS rear disks, GTS says VVTL-i on the plastic cover on the valve cover, GT says just VVT-i up there. GTS 6 speed, GT- 5 speed. If GTS is auto, it has shift buttons behind the steering wheel. GT auto dont.

Thats pretty much the best way to tell.

The shift buttons are actually on the front of the wheel on the auto gts.

Can't believe nobody pointed out the real difference between the cars.

Ones a GT and the other is a GTS.

I prefer to believe that most people are not so mind-blowingly idiotic that they couldn't check the rear badges, and are therefore asking what it means or how to determine on an unbadged car.

If on the other hand someone can't think to look at the car's badging...I don't want to know about it. Fox News is depressing enough.

I've defiantly seen GT's with the TRD kits. No idea if they came that way or whether it was done by the dealer or owner.
