77 LB and recently the CHG light came on. Alt output 14.1V, batt voltage 12.7V and holding a charge. Voltage Regulator changed out and alternator changed out with no difference. Ideas?

Are you saying you have a 77 liftback Celica? Is that what that means?

You should bring it by my place to errrrr..... Troubleshoot :p

Battery could be down a cell. What's the alt putting out back at the fuse block?

Battery generally wont cause the charging system light on a Toyota to come on.

I actually disconnected the battery while it was running and it still stayed on. The light, I understand, only tells if the alternator output (at the Voltage Regulator) is lower than the battery voltage. Pretty simple, eh? I wonder if a chafed wire could be causing it.

The light comes on if theres a short. If the voltage regulator fries it does so in a way to create a short. The light will come on in an overcharge or undercharge situation. It wont be triggered by a battery. It could be a chafed wire thats causing it.

What kind of fuses are in that thing? Is there one called "alt sensing"?
