View Full Version : Snow Chains

Anyone with RECENT experience using snow chains? I don't have ANY cash to spend, and I will be needing to drive winter roads in Ohio for at least the next 2 months. I'm considering getting a set of chains for this winter, and for use in the mountains. They are legal here in Ohio from November to April.

Any recommendations to use on 16" Yokohamas? I don't have the budget for snow tires, and I am not commuting everyday. Just looking for a set of chains that won't eat a tire, but will get me around when the weather turns to fun.

A set of basic cables will run you about $40 at O'Reilly.

some time you can get cheap snow tires at the local wrecking yard, otherwise get a set of low pro chains, they will last you way longer then cables and they are rated for abs where most cables are not. If you get me your whole tire size I can look them up at work (O'Reilly auto parts).
