so i installed new rear rotors, pads, and calipers(supposed to be oem replacement) on my st185...i installed everything properly(i think) and now the rotors are rubbing against the caliper brackets , so if i tighten my wheels nice and snug the wheels dont turn, if i loosen them the wheels turn but you can hear a lot of grinding......everything seems to be in the right place i greased the bracket pins where the caliper slides onto...another detail i painted the calipers and brackets...but i dont think that is part of the probleme...

thx in advance

Caliper brackets go on the other side of the hub plate. Take pics, sounds like you've got them installed on the wrong side.

Did you compare the rotors to the old ones? You sure you got the right stuff?

Could be wrong part. I don't have an Alltrac, but the pic doesn't look right. Did you put the left on the right and vice versa?

They could be for a GT-S. The rear rotors are different between the two. I'd check that.

alright so i ordered new rotors...and they still dont fit....the part where the wheel sits on is shorter but the disk area is taller so the brackets dont fit...i'm going to have to try and find a gt4 with good rear brakes on it so i can try n swap em or match them...it kinda sucks i couldnt drive the car for 6 months and know that i can well i cant....

Do the calipers have one or two pistons? This is a JDM import vehicle correct? From what I understand, the earlly 5 gen cars still had 4th gen stiyle brakes. Don't know if the rotors were different or not but you may have to try 4th gen rotors and see what that does.

Early 5th gens DO have the twin pots. Later ones have the singles.

I honestly dont know about the rotors tho.

well the front ones have one piston thats how i figured out there a 4th gen...but i dont know if the rears would the same...anyways i'll see what i can do...i'm tired of spending money on things that dont fit...how can i find the production date??and yes it's a jdm thx

ST165s have twin pot calipers in the front. So if you have a single pot caliper, you got the 185 front brakes. Pretty sure...

yeah nvm that i just remembered they have two pots..sorry...i know that they are from the st165...so anyways...i need to try and find some st165 rear brakes and see...if the rotor is different would the calipers be too....

OK, I checked on O'Reilly's site and the rear diiscs different between the 165 and 185. Here are what their showing for the dimensions for each:

165 rotor
•Overall Height: 2.35"
•Overall Diameter: 10.58"
•Bolt/Holes: 5
•Bolt Circle Diameter: 100mm
•Center Hole Diameter: 2.13"•Nominal Thickness: .39"
•Discard Thickness: .35"
•Type: Solid

185 Rotor
•Overall Height: 2.34"
•Overall Diameter: 11.34"
•Bolt/Holes: 5
•Bolt Circle Diameter: 100mm
•Center Hole Diameter: 2.13"•Nominal Thickness: .39"
•Discard Thickness: .35"
•Type: Solid

The height is basically the same but the diameter is a good bit bigger on the 185. This could be your problem. Something to look at anyway.

Glad to hear that it finally worked out. That's one of the joys of having an early 185.
