View Full Version : The Path of the V6 Celica...

Is this the same engine that has been used for V6 Celica swaps? Thinking about grabbing this one, rebuilding and finding a trans that fits. Or would it be cheaper to get everything including a working motor out of a camry?

Cheaper to pull a 3VZFE from a Camry. Little more expensive to get a 1MZFE, but doable.

Engine you've got there is a 3VZE. Will not fit, as it is meant to sit deep in a truck engine bay. Also the way it sits in the bay, means you cannot match mounts or a tranny laterally. The motors from a Camry will bolt in with a few modifications made to the passenger side mount.

You need something out of a front wheel drive car. The truck engines, besides sitting too high, don't have the engine mounts in the right place. I guess you could fab everything but in the long run it would be a lot easier to just get a FWD engine.

also 3ve-e's dont make alot of power and are notorious for blowing head gaskets(prob what is wrong with this one) a 3vz-fe would be the way to go, its the cheapest option and easiest to wire up. it bolts up to your stock tranny. just fabricate a pass side motor mount and have tweak or somebody do the wiring, you can make about as much power as a 2nd gen 3sgte with the low end torque and drive-ability of a 6 cylinder engine.

Hmm, considering picking up a Camry on craigslist for a grand.

See if any wreckers have the motor on the island.
