View Full Version : A Sad Time for MY Celica :-(

Well yesterday I was taking my rear end out of my celica to put in my AE86. I was taking the left rear wheel off and noticed the worst rust I have seen on this car and the placement of this rust and along with all the other rust on the car it is time that I part the car out and send it off to a junkyard because it would honestly cost about 10K just to fix the rust probably and then another 4 or 5K just to paint it and that just isn't worth it. So check the F/S forum for my stuff for sale. Here is the two worst spots of rust on the car:
The LEft Rear Wheel Well.

Ok first off that is a 2nd gen(1981). Secondly those two pictures are just two shots of rust. The car is just rust infested. There is more rust on this car then most of the cars on pimp my ride. Beleive me I have thought about this long and hard and it is just better for me to get rid of the car then to keep it and spend more money then I should on the car.

it's funny cos the celica outsold the rocco like 15:1, despite 2nd gens being one of the ugliest things i've ever seen. no offense hotwheel, i just don't like the look.

Dan, you know you love the roccos ;)

Yeah one day I plan on getting another 2nd gen coupe. I really love how they look I don' treally care if anyone else thinks they are ugly I really like them. For right now though I am just going to part it out and all the money I Get from parting it out is going to go into my 86 AE86.

As much as I hate to say it, hotwheel, you should definitely scrap it. It would cost as much to fix this one as it would to buy four more 2nd gens. Just save your pennies for a nice specimen of a 2ng gen, and then jump on it.

what? nobody else calls that much rust cancer?

the point of no return...since there's no chemotherapy that you can do to combat the terminal rust cancer.

nobody got it?

How about forum admin, there is a difference between someone there just to give you a hard time and someone there to keep the peace over an entire board. Just beacause play has a major role on the board doesn't make him a Nazi it makes him active. If it seems that he has some post directed to you... Maby there is a reason. Have you thought about it?

Sorry about the post Hijack Hotwheel and sorry about the car.

No I am still here. I just don't see a need to reply to the off-topic stuff. As for being a tech I am not a tech anymore. I used to be a Toyota tech but I decided to go back to school and am currently getting a degree in accounting. I have plans of starting my own business that fabricates performance parts for cars that don't have that much aftermarket support. And it isn't a family tradition. My dad is just a parts manager at a Toyota dealership and has worked with Toyota for 30 years and I was told I have always wanted to be a tech and so I became one after I graduated college with a degree in automotive and since I am one of the biggest Toyota fans beign a Toyota tech just fit. I do have new plans for all my cars now though. The celica is still being parted out. MY AE86 I am going to sell and whatever money I get from all of that I am going to put into a bank and just let it sit there and gain interest on it. Then once I get married(Date is set for June 3rd 2006). I am going to either buy a used 1st gen Tacoma Pre-Runner or just wait a little bit longer and get a supercharged X-Runner. If I get the Pre-Runner then the first thing I do will be putting the TRD SC on it. But that is 378 days away before I even start to think about which truck I Am going to buy. Then after I buy a truck I am going to start saving up for a 1st gen celica(preferably an RA29). I want a 1st gen Celica so bad because Celicas are my car of choice and I have always wanted a first gen and since I know 20R and 22R's very very well I can easily build a powerful hybrid motor for it. But again that is way down the road but I usually keep to plans like that. So I will keep in touch and I will still probably always be comming to this forum although I Don't really post that much.

Thanks man. I hate to say this but right now I am starting to steer away from performance mods to cars. I mean I will always do something to cars but right now I just am not into it as I used to be. Of course that will change when I get a 1st gen celica since I already have plans to build one hell of a 20R/22R hybrid for it.
