View Full Version : Turbo won't boost over 8 psi

Hey guys I've got an ST185 All Trac and it has a TD05 Turbo in it. The problem I have is if I set my boost controller to 1 Bar it wont boost past 8 psi. I noticed when I had the turbo out to do the manifold gaskets the wastegate actuator arm was too short and it made the wastegate a 1/4 the way open. I know thats why it sucks at building boost but once its full boost it feels good.

Would this cause the turbo to not go over 8 psi too? Or did the previous owner not hook up the boost controller right?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Fix the arm and you should be good.

Do you think I could use a little piece of all thread to make it longer?

step 1 get a better turbo, step 2 external gate, step 3 woooohooooo!!

i am really not for the mhi turbos. they are just over rated unless its a td06 +

Yeah man I really want a new one but im short on cash so it's gotta wait. Does anyone know the max boost the TD05 can handle?
Thanks for the help . :)

like 20, people go way over that all the time and they say they are reliable...... how many of them have you seen last at 25 psi? also they dont flow too much more than what they do at 17-18 yeah u do get more but not much more

td05 can be a very good match... depending on which td05 we are talking about here?

hm kinda evos do a lot with them but on a stock-ish flowing head it wont do over 350 as in without huge cams or bigger valves
