View Full Version : Lowering Sleeves Installed now Noise in Rear HELP!

So I installed some coilovers or "sleeves" on my celica and replaced all four struts with the new KYB kit (inserts in front) I'm now getting this unnerving knock in the rear on both sides when I go over bumps. Also in the front I'm getting this knocking noise while turning the steering wheel @ low speeds ie parking lots etc. Anyone else had this problem? Please Help. Thanks

Knocking when turning could be CV axles, loose wheel, loose hub...

Clunking when going over bumps indicates the rear strut mounts are not tight or need to be replaced.

Sleeves are unloading over bumps in the rear. On the front the springs are binding. This is normal as there isn't a bearing there. You can get some trunion bearings for the lower mount of the sleeve with a couple of washers and that'll fix the noise from turning the wheel. As to the knock, well get some helper springs and a coupling spacer:

That is, assuming you reattached the swaybar and the endlinks aren't blown or something else. Basically, if everything is in proper shape those would be the causes of the noises.

I second what Joey said. I was gonna pop in here and recommend the bearings for the turning, and the helper springs to keep them seated so they dont clunk around and bind up.

So I'm finally getting around to fixing this problem. Attempting to source the parts now...where is the best place to pick up the trunnion bearings? I haven't had much luck :/
