So the weather here in Calgary did another crazy thing this weekend. It dumped about 6- 8 inches of snow. Of course this comes right after the week where all of our snow melted. Just last week I was eyeing up my ST205 in the garage (it has been sitting there for 6 months) and was thinking it was close to bringing out. Instead it dumps all this snow on us, quite disappointing.

Thankfully for me, in addition to the ST205, I also have a ST185 with Nokian Hakkapelitta 7 studded tires! So of course I decided I had better venture out into the snow late at night and see what the conditions were like. Of course with these tires on an all wheel drive beast, it is next to impossible to get stuck!

Took a few videos of the fun. Here are a couple of them.

Now a few shots after a few hours of fun!

Me with a big smile on my face after some donuts in the snow. Look at the steam coming off the engine from a bit of snow packed onto the radiator.

A nice shot after checking out under the hood. Amazing enough there is no snow in the engine bay.

I don't see anything! Are you driving a white car in a blizzard?

Wow that looked like fun. Ya we had a bit of snow here aswell 12" in town and out side it mostly drifted up in anoying places.
I planned on pulling my car in to the shop the weekend and working on it but as you can see not much luck of that.

I spent the rest of the day pulling people out with my truck(should have kept my snow tires on).

Rust

Yes rust is an unfortunate thing about living up here in the frozen north. The snow and wet isn't that bad part, it is the rocks and sand they throw down on the roads all winter. It is a sad fact about living up here, but something we have to live with.

It is for this reason I have the ST185. It is set out to be a commuter and outside car the remainder of it's life. This is my way of protecting my pristine ST205.

The car wasn't the cleanest when I bought it either, so it just makes sense to drive it and enjoy it. It is nice to not worry about the rocks hitting it or the door dings. First car I have owned and felt that way about.

Dude - nice vids... those rims seem to be handling the 4wd nicely!

... they look so different in action on your 185... lol. :D

I had to pull the 205 out of the shop to paint the walls - ended up playing in the alleys around my house in the snow. What a blast!

I seem to have helped it to melt faster - there's not much left to play with now. :( Oh well, it's warming up, so I'll be driving the car again soon!!

Nice! No more snow left to play in now!

There's no rust on that 185 is there? Although a bit weathered/driven it's still in 1000000000000x better shape than most any north american car.

Ya, the snow didn't last very long, I knew it wouldn't. Had to seize the moment!

There are a few rust spots on the sunroof, and a bit of rust showing up around a crack in the passenger side fender. No serious rust, and all can easily be taken care of shortly with a nice cleaning, touch up paint, and some wax to protect.
