Hey my alternator died for the 2nd time..bahhh does any one in melb know where to get one and how much for a new one? vs one from wreckers? and whats a good average battery to get guys??

i'm also interested in this info.
new engine going in soon, i'm not too keen on putting my old alternator on there. but i might, depending on costs and stuff.

alternators eventually do wear out, but for it to die like that, i woul suggest you find out why its going it.

BlackGT4: use your old one, there is nothing wrong withit.

oh i got a 2nd hand one as well when i changed it over so it was about the same age as mine is pub holiday tomorrow as well so kinda stiffed but yeh it was kinda wierd they both died in the same way as well

You can get one from Toyospares 2nd hand. and either use that, or get it reco'd.it doesn't cost that much to get them reconditioned, and an autoelec should have it back to you the same day.
As for a battery i'm using a E360C its an exide/champion battery. around $103rrp. 2 year warranty, 360cca.its physically smaller than the standard battery listed for a 4th gen,5th gen,gt4. so it gives you more room to work under the bonnet and room for doing intakes, i/c piping etc.

im using a oddesy 12v800DC ( i think thats the model ) about 300 retail - sealed cell ( safe for cabin mounting ) and less than half the size of a standard job - prolly overkill for your needs though ..

ohok yeh well took apart the alt today and tried to replace the bushes well dad did not me still doesnt work, but the bushs werent toyota ones it was bosch have to go to toyota tomorrow fkn =(

how much to reco the alternator? well my dad chagned over the brushs for the toyota ones as well not looking good also got a new battery as well. I think last chance is to get it reco'd at an autoelec any good or cheap ones in melb? i need to get this car running

dude.. i got a place i can get reco'd alternator for $90.. remember i did mine in the celi a while back yeah? well the alternator i got to place it isnt bad at all.. had no dramas since..

new alternator is $353 from bursons..

nah.. i picked up the reco'd alternator and gave them mine the same time, took them a day or somethign to get it in.. so its exchange.. no waiting though.. i would imaigine they would then go and reco yours and do the same thing..
