DONT TRY THIS TILL I MOUNT IT! I HAVE A FEELING THE CAM BOLTS ARE GONNA HIT THE GLASS.

If your like me, you wanna show off your cam gears but you dont wanna leave your timing belt open to the elements. Well here ya go!

Go buy a small sheet of lexan glass at Lowes, Home Depot, whatever. ~$10
Get your Dremel out and find a cutting disk in that Wal-Mart kit I know you have.
Go back to Lowes and get some clear silacon since you forgot it.

Get that Dremel and SAFTEY GLASSES. Cut out the upper part of the cover that has the ines in it, leave some extra room on the left and right edges, I went too far.

Take some sandpaper or a sanding drum from your dremel kit and clean up the edges after the cut.

Now take what you cut out and lay it on top of your lexan sheet. Trace the pattern with a fat tip marker, this wil make your line be about 1/4" wider than the peice you cut out so you have room for silacon. Use dremel cutting disk to cut out lexan, if you have a bandsaw it will cut much better. Leave both sides of the protective film on the lexan! USE SAFTEY GLASSES! I got crap all over my face, the lexan turns to tiny balls of death flying everywhere!

Clean up the edges some, sandpaper or w/e
Take your silacon and apply it to the timing cover on the inside edges, so when you lay the lexan in it will be resting on silacon.
Try to be clean with it, dont make a big mess. Take a sharp knife and cut off both sides of the protective film about 1/2" in, all the way around. Lay the glass in on the silacon and place something heavy on it to hold it down. LET IT SIT FOR A FEW HOURS.

Peel off the rest of the film and be awesome!

I think Ima redo this and move the plexi to the outside and fiberglass it to the timing cover to look cleaner. I need to put cams in a head and the cam gears and see how close the bolt head gets to the glass. If you look on the cover, where it says 3sge and yamaha is raised some to clear the bolts I think. We'll see

Put a zipper on it so you can adjust the cam gears. Noob.

I agree, put that plexi on the OUTSIDE. You can also make it removable for Cam adjustment. Last thing you'd want is the plexi coming loose and falling INTO the timing belt.

Agreed. I have been thinking up a slide so you can pull it out to adjust gears. Its just hard to seal off something on a track or hinge and I want it to be ~water tight.
All I can figure would be a hinge and use like weather stripping to where when you close and latch it, it will be a tight fit ans seal.

That's what o-rings are for.

not bad

I've been on the idea stage for a long time to do my timing cover but not like that my idea was to replace the top cover with a clear cover. they don't make a clear top half timing cover for a 5s do they?

I was gonna mess with it more today, but I ended up putting a clutch in a fucking Honda Accord.
