sounds like a very good plan to get the car going. :)

make the version 2 plans a bit more 'robust' and 'extravagant' to suit the proper nature of the car. :)

gen3-4 engine(with built internals and port n polish head with 1 mm over sized valves and maybe s set of cams) and ecu and trans
upgrade diff
t3/t4 turbo
water/meth injection
front mount intercooler with side feed intake
full 3 inch exhaust with electronic cut out
full msd set up
maybe a light weight flywheel and a shaved crank
full tune up the boost and have some fun

jaydog82

Lookin great! BTW, what did you use to paint the engine bay? Did you wrap all of the hoses/wiring etc. or were you able to spray around it for the most part?

jaydog82
05-26-2011, 06:39 AM
i used duplacolor engine enamel 500 degree engine paint, i cleaned it then primed and painted. i just painted over and around the hoses and wiring and taped off the top by the fenders.

jaydog82
05-29-2011, 02:18 AM
I got my oem denso platinum plugs toga as well as toyota flywheel bolts and the dizzy o-ring, i also got all my coolant hoses in gates brand. next step is to do the timing belt on the new engine, disconnect the old engine from the trans, have the flywheel re-serviced and send out the fuel injectors to whitchhunter.com to be cleaned-tested-balanced.. then i can put the engine and trans together and bolt everything up so i can install said motor/trans into the car.

oh ya i found the turbo gaskets on e-bay for $18 shipped :)

jaydog82
06-03-2011, 04:53 PM
so i got a couple of things done

speed source engine mounts

Where did you bolt up your 4 point harness too?

jaydog82
11-09-2011, 07:45 AM
I have it bolted under the seat mounts, but I have since learned that is dangerous and will be making a custom harness bar. I am thinking about a bar that followed the form of the seat and bolt at the bottom and up to the roof.

you want the top most portion of your 4-point harness higher than your shoulders. if the harness bar is at the same level (or lower) than your shoulders, if you get into a serious head-on or rear impact collision, the realistic chance of compressing your spine exists.

our buddy carlo has a harness bar in his MKII Mr2 - i'd recommend taking a look at it, to get some ideas.

very nice progress on the celica btw. :)

Ya I have some ideas for a custom harness bar, I don't want to kill the back seat because my kids will have to sit back there and I don't want a full bar if it makes it dangerous for them. I was thinking of a design similar to the bar set up on a go kart, just behind the driver seat. The horizontal bar connecting to two vertical bars going from the floor up to the roof.

Well... today I got a call from my mother in law( the alltrac is at her house while i work on it) and i have 10 days to get it running or move it as per city ordinance or i will get fined, apparently the car has to be able to start and move back and forward. What a load of crap.........so 1not2listen and his awesome wife are going to help me install the motor and get her running on Sunday. So one good thing from this city law is that my car will be running as of Monday at the latest :)
What sucks is that now I'm rushed and I wont be able to drive it untill I get some new tires for her, The ones on her now are from my old 90 gt and are not all equal tread depth.

Video to come, man am i excited.

And how she drives so nice, I ordered my prosport wideband from horsepower.com, MBC from boostvalve.com and my AGM battery from Oreilly auto parts.

Ok so iv been driving the Trac for a week or so, and man is it fun. Ordered a mbc from boostvalve.com and a prosport wideband gauge. I'm working on tuning for 15psi. The only question I have is it if it is normal for a st165 to serge when its cold? It runs great once it warms up but serges when I gas it and does not like anything past 5 k rpm unroll its warmed up.

OK time for an update. I finally found the problem with my Afr/ running too rich problem. I tested the voltage at the ecu from the o2 sensor, I got negative voltage so I tested for continuity and found that the feed wire to the ecu was getting grounded out in the wire harness. I ran a new wire and the ecu now sees good voltage. I passed smog like a fing Prius.
