View Full Version : System 10 Amplifier and Head Unit Replacement

Can someone help me with some answers. I am looking to buy a JL XD600/6 amplifier and was wondering if it will work with the factory wiring from the original amp. I was told a while ago that the 8" door subs and tweeters come from the same channel off the amp. That does not make sense to me if the factory amp has internal cross overs. How would it separate the lows from the highs. Is there a break down on the factory system 10 amp wiring. If I go with a new head unit down the road, can I just plug in the RCA outputs from the head unit. I am planning on getting the Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD, which has 3 pairs of RCA outputs. That should eliminate the need to use the factory speaker wires from the original head unit, right?

It helps to know what year you're working with, given the setups changed.

However, simply searching for information on the System 10 amplifier would yield a number of useful threads.

Ok all of you that have had trouble with your Pre 93 System 10 stereos that want to add an aftermarket deck and still maintain the stock amp and speakers, Here is the fix!
The pre 93 system 10 has a 14pin connection and the later version is a 15pin connector. As I get more info I will post it up!

Sorry, this is a 93 GTS that I am working on. I also upgraded the factory door subs with Morel units.
