Picked up a 1966 Volvo 122 for $500 from down the street, bought a v8 lexus that needed a VI for $900 ....and somehow thought they should be together.

I want something light, fast, handles good, super reliable, and weird.

I think I got it all:

Sick smoke show:

turned that into this in a couple days:

cut out the whole rear drive train and floor pan:

Built a little subframe to match the width of the inside of the volvo rockers and to keep everything together.

Had to shorten the lexus 3" to get the wheelbase perfect:

More trimming and now they are one!

I am going to get the body dropped even more and build some fender flares sort of like this guy:

But thats where it sits as of today. I have a manual tranny adapter ready for me from a machine shop on the island since the Lexus 1uzfe never came with a manual tranny.

Yuck. Yuck yuck yuck and fuggin yuck. I suppose I have to give respect to the fabrication, but dear lord that's a horrible thing to have done to an SC that looked to be in good condition. Thumbs down.

I guess you got to be a volvo guy. Oh well I knew it would get a response one way or the other. The toyota part of me weeped a little, but the volvo part came a little. Such conflicting emotions... Meh I still dig it.

The only thing that ugly overweight jelly bean was good for was the motor and suspension anyway. :p

I kind of hate to admit it, but I've always kind of liked that model Volvo. That is an interesting build.

I agree, I like it. I have a buddy with a fully restored volvo 122 and I actually like the lines on the car.

That is an interesting build.

And that must qualify as the Celicatech understatement of the year :)
