I found this on youtube by accident and found it to be very informative as to how a knock sensor works and how to accurately test one.

Good video, but purposefully making the car ping sounds kinda dangerous to me.

this was posted on 6GC also. after watching it more and more, its a poorly done video. the second picture isnt even a knock sensor, its an oil pressure sensor. and sure he goes into depth about how a knock sensor works, but didnt get into any details about how the ECU responds to them.

Smaay, this video is just to help diagnose a bad sensor. The very informative part comes from the fact that he correctly tells you to set your multimeter into AC voltage, and that the old tapping of the hammer of the block trick wont work and that you have to induce knock by leaning the car out.
