View Full Version : Quick Question regarding 1/4mile time.

I just got my car registerd and running perfectly fine. Just fixing some bugs here and there. But yes i am about almost ready to start upping the boost soon.

Ok i have a really good strong motor. Almost near perfect compression, no knocking at all.

i have a upg ct26 58trim. Fully stock set up with a FMIC. I have a 3inch DP with Stock Piping afterwards. An the Interior is Semi gutted. Assuming WITH me in the car about 3150 maybe a little less or more. Most likley less from what i am thinking. But yes if possible guys with that Minor info can you guys give me a rough estimate. o yea an its in a st165 with a jdm 85 in it. so its 225hp. Stock psi is 8 + 7 = 15psi with 7 = about 70hp or so? putting me around 295. with 3inch DP maybe what 5-10hp lets say 5 = 300hp - what 20% drivetrain loss. = 240whp? with about 3150lbs = 13.12 power to weight ratio.

So yea srry for long intro there. As you can see i am very happy about finally having my car run Perfectly after 4 years of working on it :)

Why not just take it and run it so you don't have to guess? Most of the quarter mile time is out of the car's control if ya know what I mean.

Well i dont have the time to take it to a trac for a while. School and work n money are an issue for a bit. So that is why i am asking.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say.. between 13.5 and 20 seconds. Your power guesstimates really aren't going to tell you anything I'm afraid.

stock 165 ecu? you'd be lucky if you broke 225whp with it.
stock 185 ecu? i doubt if you are over 250whp.
and drag stip fun? this could be either a great day/disappointing day/or call a tow truck day. but i'd say mid 14's.

There's just way to many variables honestly I've had my RX7 street/strip car be all over the place in the past it ran low 14 passes in basically a stock configuration, then after a port and polish job and 50 more ponies run 15-16 second passes inconsistent has hell (no grip) little clutch foot work wham mid to high 13's stand alone ecu some suspension more boost and 10 inch Nitto 555R drags now low 12's high 11's depending on atmospheric conditions. I'd conservatively say though based on weight and power with grip and every thing being equal should run a low 14 to mid 14.

Just for comparison Ill here was my setup that I ran a 13.38 @ 104 in my 165. Note my engine was in great shape before I ever modded it and it only has 55k original miles.
-stock 165 intercooler core and pump
-larger heat exchanger
-stock 165 ecu
-alcohol injection w/ 400cc nozzle
-3in downpipe and midpipe (no exhaust after midpipe)
-"ct27" turbo which is a glorified ct26 upgrade (i have no complaints though bc i got a good deal on it)

The car was never on a dyno so I dont know the power its making. I have seen others who have posted their times that had many more power mods than I and have recorded slower times. That just goes to show that there are many factors that will determine a "fast" time. Driving on the drag strip and driving on the street is completely different. Dont get too hung up on how fast your quarter mile time will be bc if it matters to you that much then you got the wrong car.
